question regarding android open office
Hi I do use open office on my windows system. Yesterday I downloaded the Android version onto my tablet. Specific files are saved with a password via my windows system. When I open the android version on my tablet, I can see the files, but the won't open, because it says that my password is not correct. ( but it is correct ). I agree with Rory that this port is unofficial, but (if you are talking about AndrOpen Office) it is completely based on the OpenOffice code. In this case, though, it seems that either it does not support password protection or it doesn't support the new encryption standard we use (I don't remember exactly, but the Release Notes may have more information). My 2 cents as forum moderator. We agreed on the forum to reject spam only. Therefore, we do not filter such question when they come (but they are rather rare). In such case we move them to the General discussion section with the appropriate wording. Note that allowing such questions increases the chances to get a hit when users search the web with the same keywords (ok, they have to do so first). So it may help spare further similar questions. Printing Problems ?
Hello Hopefully you can help me out.. I have just downloaded Open Office V 4 onto my computer.. I am unable to print anything from my documents.. I have created a document in Open Office, saved it to My Documents and tried to print.. A clear sheet comes out of the printer. There is no problems with my printer as it prints fine photos etc... Is there a setting I am missing ? I am not a computer wizard so any help would be appreciated.. I am using Vista as my OS, and my printer is a Canon MX880 series... Probably has to do because the mac you send it to has no file-linkage (or OpenOffice on them). Make sure the other mac has OpenOffice, and also make sure that the ODT files are linked to OpenOffice. What is wrong. What's wrong apparently is that there must be bug in the software. This complaint seems to surface about once a week or so. Why don't you file a bug report with OpenOffice. Then send another one to LibreOffice. LO must have copied it when they forked. We can do better than just say just there must be a bug. Clearly something has gone wrong and it may be considered a bug in the application that this happens. But it is well understood that this situation occurs when the OpenOffice user profile becomes corrupt - for whatever reason - and there are simple ways to correct the problem. By all means submit bug reports, but in order to be of any help you would probably need to determine what documents or what specific actions in OpenOffice were likely to cause profile corruption. If OpenOffice correctly determines that no spelling dictionary is installed for the marked language of any text, then it will not be able to check the text and should (and generally will) fail to mark anything as misspelled. Why don't you file a bug report with OpenOffice. Then send another one to LibreOffice. LO must have copied it when they forked. Clearly something has gone wrong and it may be considered a bug in the application that this happens. But it is well understood that this situation occurs when the OpenOffice user profile becomes corrupt - for whatever reason - and there are simple ways to correct the problem. By all means submit bug reports, but in order to be of any help you would probably need to determine what documents or what specific actions in OpenOffice were likely to cause profile corruption. When you do so, and can explain this in your bug reports, I'm sure many people will be delighted. Good luck! Oh - unless you are planning to write just It doesn't work.
