open office 4 for mac keep deleting my files
Hello, my name is Luca I’m writing to you because since i’ve downloaded the latest version of openoffice(4) on my mac, every now and then, while working on my document, openoffice keep deleting them. I lost twice documents really important to me for this issue. It all happen while working on spreadsheet, the program seem to freeze ( everywhere i point the cursor, the window appear empty ) so basically, the toolbar looks like a grey bar with no options on it and the File/Edit/View etc.. bar is not available. When i try to close the document (prompting the system asking me if i want to save my work) the system says that is impossible to complete the operation because the file i’m working on it does not exist, forcing me to check the folder and realising that the actual document is disappeared. It is not in the bin or any other folder on my mac, it does appear on the history of recent opened document and on a recovering program but the file it says to be corrupted. How can i fix this problem? I already set openoffice to make backup of my documents, but i don’t want one day to find out that even this option is no longer a choice. I didn't saved neither gave name to the file before coping it and try to paste to gmail, when in stead of that document another text in the portfolio was pasted. I went back to the document, and instead of the original text there was another txte, I don't remember exctlly how, but I left the software and the original text was lost. As I was about 7 hours writing that e-mail (text), it's for konwing if openoffice made any copi of it and where that or those copies can be stored. Thanks a lot John There may be a backup file in the directory pointed to be /Tools /Options /OpenOffice /Paths :Backup or a temporary working file with an arbitrary name, something like afdgt.fgt in /Tools /Options /OpenOffice /Paths :Temporary files Rename either of these to type ,odt and see if they contain your data. If they do not exist, I fear there will be nothing. In future, immediately you commence a file, even if blank or almost blank, you ought save it with a meaningful name. Anytime you pause or walk away from the computer, press Cntrl S to Save the file. -- Rory O'Farrell ofarr...@iol.ie - To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org

Stop reducing fractions
Gentlemen/Ladies I have been successful in properly entering fractions into my table. Now however the fractions do not remain as I wrote them but are being reduced to the nearest single digit numerator as soon as I go to the next column to enter the next fraction.. what must I do to keep the fractions in their original form? Thank you. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org
