You should start by deleting or renaming your OpenOffice user profile. If you
are using Windows do this by:
Close OpenOffice and the Quickstarter. Open File Explorer. Copy and paste
%appdata%\OpenOffice\4 in the File Explorer Address Bar and press Enter. Rename
the "user" folder. Start OpenOffice.

This cures most spellcheck problems.

Re: Thank you!

2015-09-07 Thread James Plante
First step would be to create a large pool of questions, answer choices, and
correct answers. One way to do this (but by no means the only way) would be to
create each question in a separate document, filed under a keyed filename like
2-114.txt, 2-115.txt, etc., for section and question number. Then use a random
number generator to select questions by section (2-*) and number (*-115).
Finally, these questions could be pulled into a single document using a UNO
script and/or conditional formatting. You can create a single test document, or
you can individualize it and produce separate tests for each student. That
script would be as much work as coming up with 500 or so questions for each
topic, but in the end it might be worth it.

This sort of system has advantages: The pool of questions can be enormous, so
you can give out the test and the answers to the class if they want them (or
provide a link to the files). Any student who can memorize the answers to all
500 questions in section 1 would probably have a good command of the material
just by rote memory.

Right after the Freedom of Information Act was passed, some enterprising
would-be pilots requested the test questions and answers to the commercial
pilot’s exam. The FAA provided them: All 750 questions on navigation;
airmanship; regulations; etc. So having the test questions provided them with
no shortcuts. It did, however, aid several enterprising instructors in creating
ground schools directed at passing the tests.

Alternatively, create the question pool, develop the selection script, then
sell the question pool to students as a study guide.

Spell check language settings

2015-09-07 Thread Manuel R .
So every time I create a new file I have to set the Language for the Text,
Paragraph and Selection before the Auto or Manual spell check can work. How do
I get them to stay? I don’t want to have to click on them each time. So to
explain with as much detail as I can. I create a file, then I go to
Tool-Language-For Selection or Paragraph or Text then I click on English on
each of them. How do I keep them checked every time I create a file without
actually having to click on them? I would think by doing it to one file the new
one I create would be set but it isn’t. So please get back to me as soon as
possible. It’s not a big thing but it’s just very annoying. Thank you for your
time and help!

Do you have Artha on your system? Very nice program. I keep it in my

Gmail is an email service that you can access via a web interface (eg. a
web browser like Firefox), or an email client (eg. Thunderbird).
You can "associate" with an email client, but not a web interface.

There used to a much earlier version when the thesaurus actually worked, The
past two or three versions of Open Office has caused that this no longer works.

Your language may be set wrongly. Probably the easiest way to fix this is to
delete or rename your OpenOffice user profile. If you are using Windows do this
by:
Close OpenOffice and the Quickstarter. Open File Explorer. Copy and paste
%appdata%\OpenOffice\4 in the File Explorer Address Bar and press Enter. Rename

If this works on new files then you may have to adjust the language settings in
any older files (/Tools /Language /For all text.

Manueller Zeilenumbruch

2015-09-07 Thread Lucifer Diabolo

Windows 7 home
OOo 4.0

Guten Abend!

Lucifer
