This is one reason why you should have used a database for your record.

If you have selected multiple sheets either by purpose or accidentally data
entries or changes are done on all selected sheets.
This can be handy if you like to enter formulas on multiple sheets, but as you
experienced it can be a disaster when you're not aware of it.

My wife has used Calc for years to keep track of highly detailed tax data
for our business. This week she was entering info on a certain sheet (she
has multiple sheets) and it was entering that same info on sheet number
one. When she deleted a row from sheet number 3, it deleted it from sheet
number 1. We lost a bunch of data this way...actually all of the sheets are
behaving as one sheet. Please let me know how we resolve this. This is a
fresh install of OO on a Windows 10 laptop.

Re: Inserting photo into document query

2016-04-07 Thread cleanpups

Hi Julian,

First thing i tried. That doesn't work either. I tried the 'flip" option but
that only gives me a mirror image from the opposite angle. It doesn't turn
the image from horizontal to vertical.

The photo is ok and as soon as I insert it into a file, it flips onto it’s
side.

How do i fix this??

Try rotating it before inserting it into the file. There should be a better
way! (but I can't discover it in the menus or the help:-(

Your file has been corrupted, possibly because of a crash or over-hasty power
down of your computer; outside of OpenOffice change the file type to .zip, then
attempt to open it with the system file archiver. If it opens, your content
will be in file content.xml, if that opens. In that case, (again outside of
OpenOffice) look in the directories pointed to by the OpebnOffice settings
/Tools /Options /OpenOffice /Paths - Backup and /Tools /Options /OpenOffice
/Paths - Temp ; rename any files with arbitrary names and extensions to the
file type you were using and see if they contain some or all of your data.
Download and run one of Recuva or PhotoRec and see if this will recover any
deleted temporary file containing sum or all of your data.

Note that /Options is under Preferences on a Mac.

Re: Installation

2016-04-07 Thread Christian-André Giehl

Hi Anna-Marie,

please give us some more information on what you are trying to do.
- What operating system do you use (e.g. Windows 7, 8, 10, Ubuntu, Mac
OS, ...)

- Were there any issues during installation? Error messages?
- Can you open the program by clicking on an icon?
- Do you see the program, does it open up?
- What are the steps you tried so far?
- At which step are you stuck?

Some minor information you could also provide: OpenOffice is a "package
of programs" rather than just a single "program". If you want to write a
text document you use OpenOffice Writer for example. What do you want to
do with "the program"? Writing a document, creating a presentation, work
on spreadsheets, etc.?

Greetings

Chris
