You need a colour printer to print BLOODY envelopes.

This is so frustrating! I did it once - obviously a fluke - and now I can't
manage to print one single envelope.

It comes out printing the wrong way(goes width wise instead of length) and
it started to print my letter...on the envelope!!

Normally it print only what you instruct the printer to print, so
probably your instructions need a bit modified.

If you would kindly lay it out for me, step by step, how to do this, I
would be very grateful because

This depend much on the type of envelope you use.

For a blank envelope:
Create a new document and go to Insert -> Envelope..
The window that opens has tree tabs:
 - Envelope: for this example leave all fields blank
 - Format: here you can position the Addressee and Sender and the Size
of your envelope
 - Printer: here you control the position and rotation of the address.
Printer settings when entered will be saved in
the document, so the next time you use the same document you don't
need to redo all these steps.

When done click New, this will create a separate document.

For a window envelope:
I must admit that I don't see the logic as described in the
documentation, it's hard to position the address block
with the previous method. So I insert a Frame which you can position
exactly as you need.
In this frame you can type the addressee or insert database fields and
do a mail merge.

I am either going to throw my printer over
the balcony, or I will bite the bullet and buy Word.

You blame the software and throw away the hardware that doesn't make
sense to me.

Thank you.

In /File /Print press the Properties button and set your printer to print
duplex. If there is a choice for the Flip edge, start by selecting "Long
side". Try printing a two page document to make sure the reverse side is the
correct way up. If not, change the flip edge to "Short side".

Try reinstalling the printer driver - it sounds like it may have forgotten that
the printer does duplex.

Envelope printing is heavily dependent on the printer you have and how it feeds
envelopes. What works for me is to create a TEMPLATE for the envelope with the
correct orientation [if the printer end-feeds the envelope, use landscape;
otherwise portrait]. Set margins in the template - again depending on the
above as well as to whether the envelope is centered or left-aligned in the
printer.

A little bit of trial and error may be needed, but when you are done you will
have a template that will last until you get a new printer or a new envelope
size.

Good luck.

Hi there,

I have a printer that can print on both sides. I used to be able to print
both sides with open office no problem, but the last few times it will
print out the even pages then wants me to manually flip the pages over and
re-insert then will continue printing. This is ridiculous and a waste of
my time. Please tell me how this can be fixed. It was never an issue
before!

Thank you for your help!

think you have a corrupted file.

You can open Apache OpenOffice on your Mac. I have been using it on my Macs for
years.
From the release notes at
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/AOO+4.1.3+Release+Notes#AOO4.1.3ReleaseNotes-KnownIssues
:

   Known Issues
   For macOS users:
Apache OpenOffice 4.1.3 will be flagged by the Gatekeeper facility in Mac OS
X. This is a
feature to help guard against malware on recent Mac OS X systems.

For Mac OS X up to 10.11 "El Capitan": There is a procedure laid out at the
following link
to allow applications not installed from the Mac App store to run. See the
Mac support
   article https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT202491

For Mac OS X 10.12 "Sierra": In Finder, Control-click or right click the
icon of the app.
Select Open from the top of contextual menu that appears. Click Open in the
dialog box. If
prompted, enter an administrator name and password. This is needed just the
first time you
   launch Apache OpenOffice.
