Your suggestion doesn't make sense, the Original Poster don't want a number on the first page for obvious reasons. I'm a student at Norwich University (VT) and just downloaded new version of Open Office 4.1.5. I'm creating a report and don't want a page number on the first page. I've gone through the steps to place the page number on the page but when I right click the number, the 'fields' choice I am looking for is not shown, see below. Thanks for your time! Donald [cid:bc76dfca-fee6-4a11-91ac-ee5e029bec06] Have you inserted a number (a digit, plain and simple) or used /Insert /Fields /PageNumber? This latter is how you should do it. Your first page should use Page Style First Page, with, on its Organiser tab, the following style set to use Default (or whatever other page style you desire). The Page Numbering tutorial at https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=1221 will be helpful. -- Rory O'Farrell - To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org - To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org
Openoffice crashing
I created a text document and before I could finish, OpenOffice crashed! I was able to recover the document but the program crashed again before I could do much more to the document. This happened three times in the space of 20 minutes. I shut down my computer and left it alone for a couple of hours. I started my computer again and stated up OpenOffice then tried reopening the same document again. Before I could do an update to it, OpenOffice crashed again. I tried looking for an update through the OpenOffice Help page, but all I got was an error message. Update failure. Apache OpenOffice has been a wonderful word processing program to use over the past several years since discovering it and we have created a lot of documents together. So I need to know if this is a temporary problem, or do I need to find another program to create and update my work? Sincerely, DTiek
Trouble with text document
HiI created a document and saved it as a MS Word document for others to be able to read, open and print it. The way I did this was to _SAVE AS TYPE_: Microsoft Word 6.0 and got a message saying the document may contain formatting which cannot be saved in MS Word 6 file format The resulting document had a file type: Microsoft Word 97-2003. When I tried to open the MS Word version, I get an error message: "Read error. This is not a WinWord97 file." One other person has said they can read it but can't print it as it is protected. I'd appreciate any advice on correcting these issues. Thanks for your time. Mark
