I'm amazed an the rude people like Cathy Colorado

2016-01-19 Thread Scooter C

Ms. Colorado,

If you want to use MS Word then do so.
AOO [Apache Open Office] is an Open Source program [OSP], you should
read up on the concept. You attacked a lot of people for no reason,
other then the obvious, you don't understand OSP or AOO. You owe them an
apology.

For your further public email education: All capitol letters is yelling,
a very simple internet rule.

Some very knowledgeable people have offered you sound advise. I would
advise to try them and better educate yourself on how to operate AOO.
You must have a stronger reason for using the program then what you
stated, since it was evident you can afford MS Word.
I, personally, prefer AOO to Microsoft's Word ( which I used for almost
20 years). It's free and it just plain works, even with Windows 10
(which I like, but many don't).

As has been pointed out, the "List serve" IS there to help IF you want
it. We all are expected to state our need and answer questions, as best
we can. If you or the list have problems understanding it requires a
dialog to get to that understanding. 9 times out of ten it becomes clear
and one answer will solve the problem for you and many others.

Good Afternoon Group,

I installed AOO 4.1.2 and it still works flawlessly, although I haven't
tried Everything yet.
I did have a minor problem with my first try at the download, but it did
fine on the 2nd DL attempt.

Re: Windows 10

2015-08-07 Thread Scooter C

Good Afternoon Z Jones,

I have upgraded to Win 10 Home on a 64bit machine. I lost nothing [but
had also backed up my computer].
ALL my programs work as they did before the upgrade and Thunderbird
works better, as does my Scrabble game. I have the latest AOO 4.1.1
(previously installed on Win8.1) and it works beautifully.
You should upgrade to AOO 4.1.1 and quarry your hardware provider to
whether its compatible with Win 10, BEFORE you install new equipment.
Otherwise you will be experimenting.

of the two changes, namely new tower and Windows 10. The program works fine
now, but I do not know anything about computers and I have to relay on

no matter how much they charge you they do not know much.
So briefly will I have problems in installing new equipment in Windows 10

Thank you.

The Windows version should work. I have used it with XP and Windows 7
without problem. What issues are you having? Why do you say it
doesn't

work?

Oracle Bad news JDK 6 will no longer be free which screws AOO usage

2012-12-12 Thread Scooter C

Why has this issue not been mentioned?

last publicly available release of Oracle JDK 6 is to be released in
*February, 2013*.
This means that after February 19, 2013, all newsecurity updates #,
patches and fixes for Java SE 6 and Java SE 5 will only be available
through My Oracle Support and will thus require a commercial license
