Re: AVG & Avast have cause problems with a file in Open Office

2024-05-11 Thread larry phillips
I have a suggestion! Do like me and get a ledger book and write down
yourpasswords for each service and use different passwords for each
service. After all if people can hack computers then they no doubt can crack the
so called password vault. If people like Microsoft are providing it
theyprobably have a way to strip all of your passwords and monitor yourevery
move. If someone takes over your computer and you have tohave it wiped then you
still can access the services from your ledger.hopefully you backed up your
files. Larry Phillips

Subject: AVG & Avast have cause problems with a file in Open Office

The file crashed in Open Office because of installing Avast
anti-virus software. This file is where I kept all passwords, usernames,
and websites and other things. That file was extremely important to me!
The first time I had AVG anti-virus and that software caused me not to be
able to get into that same file. I had to pay a computer repair company
help me get into the file and they figured out it was AVG, so I went to
Avast and Avast actually caused that file to crash! What the!!! Do I have
to hire someone again to get that file back or is it history? Help, Please!

Kind Regards

Charlene Bugg

I had the same problem with it and I do not use office. The computer shop put
a trial
version on my computer when they file converted my files from the old computer
to the
new one or Microsquish included it in their windows. I do not want it or need
it so I am
probably going to delete it off my computer. I am incensed the Seattle jerks
set up their
software to go in and change the files on my computer.  Larry P

are now in my document file folder as W for Word File.
Clicking it to view and maybe print or edit, takes me to Word (which I don’t

Why has this happened, and how do I fix it?
I’ve always had a PC with Windows, and haven’t encountered this before.

Re: Open Office Writer Critique

2017-06-17 Thread larry phillips
I find it slightly amusing that people get something for free and then choose
to complain
that it doesn't have all the bells and whistles that they want or they might
have to take an extra step to
do a function. I find Microsquish every complicated and expensive. Every time
they come out with a new
verson it is a sales tool for the office suite Larry Phillips

First of all, it is annoying and seems a bit
arrogant to force me to open
my email in your browser to send this
message when I already have my email
open in a different browser. I also
don't like the fact that said browser
removes (or at least hides from me) my
 signature stored in the email
service. But those are not the reason
 for the message.

You have a function for working with
tables that seems to have no useful
purpose, but the title given to it
would be quite useful, and there doesn't
seem to be any way to actually do what
the name of the function implies.
Microsoft Word has a function with
nearly the exact same name, and it
functions as the name suggests and is
 very handy.

 The function in question is
“Distribute Rows Equally”, and it is found
under the “Table” menu in the
“Autofit” sub-menu. I read the Help on that
topic, and it functions exactly as
described, but for no benefit that I can
 imagine. The similar “Distribute
 Columns Evenly” operates nearly identical,
different only in that it is limited by
the page size, while rows are not.

What the function does in make every
column (or row) match the largest one
in the selection. I can do that in
 several different ways without using
this function, and the name does not
suggest that such will be the outcome.
 It isn't “distributing” anything,
it is simply expanding each row to the
size of the largest. What I want to do
(and what the name implies what and
Microsoft does) is distribute the rows
equally or evenly within the area of
the rows selected. The final table
would occupy no more, no less, but
exactly the same space as the original,
but the spacing of the rows would
 all be the same.

This supports providing as much space
or as large a font as practical while
keeping a consistent look and staying
(for example) on one page. There is
no easy way to do this that I know of
without a command such as this. I
must somehow measure the total space
that I want the finished table to
occupy, then manually divide that by
the number of rows I want, and then
size each one to that size. Given
certain scenarios, one could do that last
step en mass, but the first two steps
 are cumbersome and tedious. The
computer could do that in a moment,
just as quickly as it does what it does
now, but with far more benefit.

I strongly urge the team at Apache to
 consider making this design change.

A writer whom I rather like was
credited with commenting that my country
and his were unfortunately separated by a  common
 language. I have always
 thought that to be
 a quite accurate observation.

I suggest that we agree to disagree and each withdraw from
 the field, each
knowing that we are each separately correct as to preferred
 usages in our
 respective geographic areas.
Languages , even Latin, are living things and continually
 evolve.  Perhaps
only Carthaginian appears to not do so. Scipio Aemilianus
 (Scipio
Africanus) seems to have taken care of that.

In any event, I think that half breed, Winston Leonard
 Spencer Churchill
 had an apt point.

I promise to not make fun of your side's silly
 pronunciations of "clerk"
and spelling and pronunciation of "aluminum" if you will
 refrain from
calling me silly for my usage preferences.

I try to not use Microsquish because of their lousy way windows 8 works! They
no doubt are responsible for Firefox not working correctly.

 Apparently the problem was Firefox.
Once I downloaded with Explorer, it was fine. Got it
installed and working great. Could not use anything else as
this is what the company puts their contracts into.
 Thanks
