Re: Your ad on my computer

Then i thinks its a good idea to tell this story to your firends and
warn them about this sites like

www . freedownload.openoffice. com (and how they all called).

the same problem with modified versions exists with other popular
programs like VLC Player (official videolan.org) and i know people how
infected there pcs with maleware by downloading from one of this other
sites.

tell your friends: be aware of this unofficial crap webpages and look
for official its a little bit of learning (dont just click on first
page google offer) but it helps also beeing more focused while surfing
in the web (we all know how amny viruses spread per email, just because
the people have to click every mail)

Hello Paul

I Thinks its a good idea to tell your friends about THIS story and warn
them about this unofficial websites like www. downloadfree.openoffice.
com (and how they all called) which are spreading maleware!

the same problem occures with other popular OSS like VLC Player.

My advise: Tell and warn your friends about the unofficial sites which
build maleware in the programms so that they learn to just download from
offical sites! It also helps to teach the people surfing focused in the
web and not clicking just the first page google offer them.

We all know why thousands of viruses spread per email in last decades:
Because people clicking on everything without thinking and checking.

Hi. I recently had trouble by downloading Open Office with malware. How
can I get a version that's safe to use? I see someone is selling CDs of
3.2 on Ebay for the software.

Well, this is not a web site, of course.

Yes, of course its no website, but to find this mailinglist you have to
go to official apache website.

I do.

it was called openoffice.org, this is also the official link of

People called it Open Office. It's now called Apache OpenOffice. There
are no "org"s about.

maybe its because im using OpenOffice since version 1.0 (oay, since 1996
when you count from StarOffice 4.0) and it was alway www.openoffice.org.

old users should have learn this... maybe MJ is new user.

google makes stupid i suggest.

If you search for "open office" you will indeed get all sorts of
unfortunate references. But after downloading something inappropriate,
a user may then find the real site when searching further for
assistance.

As you may realise, www.openoffice.org redirects to soureceforge.net
for the actual download. On the actual Sourceforge download page, there
is a small legend at the top saying that the download will start
shortly. It will. But there are various large green "Download" buttons
on that page which lead to other, no doubt unwanted, material - which
may well be considered malware. I wonder how many users imagine that to
download the product they need to click such a "Download" button: that
would be a not unreasonable idea! This way, they will receive the
unwanted material along with the real thing.

I trust this helps.

Brian Barker

what can apache do, that google dont offer websites with
malware-versions first on search-results? this damn malware versions can
damage the name of the software over time.

I hope that the active OOA-developers and Apache will give rights of the
OpenOffice-brand to TDF before closing the door forever and let OO die.

TDF has active delevopers and doing well process with LibreOffice, which
is justed named LO because Oracle didnt give the rights on the name
OpenOffice to them.

Apache before you let OpenOffice die, please correct the mistake
oracle has done.

As others have already explained, Apache OpenOffice user support is
provided by this mailing list and the forum at:
https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/
You should understand that the non-profit ASF (Apache Software
Foundation), is not a commercial for profit business. The Apache
OpenOffice project is just one of more than 300 projects that make up
the ASF. See: https://apache.org/index.html#projects-list

Even if you were able to contact someone at what you perceive to be
"Apache", they could only refer you back here to the Apache OpenOffice
project for user support

> FYI.  The original disc was purchased at Sam's Club several years ago and has

Yes, there are many who sell FOSS (Free Open Source Software) and expect
volunteers like us to provide free support.

> I have never seen anything that says the program was originally free of
> charge.

It has been free for anyone to download and use since 2001, when the
original sponsors Sun Microsystems made the code open source.
See: https://www.openoffice.org/why/why_free.html

Now if you will answer our questions and explain your issue in detail we
will try to provide you with a solution.

Re: Functionality

2020-05-17 Thread User
Hi Tammy,

Can you explain in more detail what functionality is missing? In Writer
version 4.1.7 I can create many basic shapes like circles and rectangles
and have the area of those shapes filled with a wide variety of
gradients, without resorting to the Draw module.

Try creating a basic shape, then right click on the shape and select
"/Area/" from the context (pop-up) menu that appears. In the "Area"
dialog (window) that opens you have a wide choice of "Fills" including
gradients.

For more fine grain control select the "Gradients" tab of that dialog.

Please asses how this could be substantially expanded/improved and
submit an enhancement request:
https://www.openoffice.org/qa/issue_handling/pre_submission.html

Thank you

Fist, please calm down and stop ranting. Like you and everyone else in
this project, I am just a user trying to help a fellow user.

Not sure why you paid anyone for the software it is, always has ben and
always will be free to download and use.

I do not know what you mean by "fill the background of the cells". Are
these "cells" in a Calc spreadsheet, or a Writer table?

Can you outline the steps you take when you expect those "cells" to be
filled with background colors? With that information it might be
possible to track down the reason why this does not work for you.

For the benefit of list subscribers Isabella's screen capture shows the
Templates login page and the error message:
"Unable to send e-mail. Contact the site administrator if the problem
persists."

This is an ongoing unresolved issue. Is it not tome we gave Template
