Re: How to do it???
Larry, Right click (control click) on file, choose Open With, navigate to Writer and Open. If you want this to happen to all “Word” files then check the box for all similar files. How to do it???
Good Morning, I recently installed your Open Office 4.1.7 So far, it has worked well. Today, I ran into a snag. I received an e-mail with a word document attached. When I click on the attachment, it opens up, but a moment later another screen opens up on top of it, asking me to subscribe to Office 365. If I close that screen, it also closes the attachment. How do I get to open the attachment in Open Office? I probably have the same issue if the attachment is an excel spreadsheet. I am using Windows 10. Thank you, Larry Tanzer
How to do it?
I want to change a PDF into a READABLE open office document. Every time I try, it appears in open office in code. HELP!

You are supposed to first import the pdf file, and then save it as whatever type of document you wish. However, if the PDF file is only and image, it cannot be coverted to editable text. For that you need to use OCR programs like Abbyy or Readiris, which you can obtain from ebay or amazonetc. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org

If you simply require to read the PDF document, you should open it in your operating system's PDF reader; frequently this is Adobe Reader, usually installed by default on Windows. It is the intention that PDF documents should be unchangeable. If you wish to edit the document you have basically two choices. It may be possible to select the text in the PDF and Copy it, pasting it into OpenOffice Writer, in which you can then edit the text. However this ability to copy directly from a PDF file does not always work. The other possibility is to pass the PDF document through an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) application, which reads the PDF and turns it into editable text, which you can then edit in OpenOffice Writer. www.zamzar.com offer a free online service which (inter alia) will convert a PDF document to an OpenOffice ODT document, ready to edit. -- Rory O'Farrell - To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org
