You can enter whatever you want in that box, even decimal values. The
lowest number appears to be 2, because if you enter anything lower it will
be changed to 2.
I did a quick test by typing HHH and let each H be different sizes
from 3.0 to 4.0. When checking their sizes afterwards, some are changed, so
they are instead 3.0, 3.0, 3.2, 3.2, 3.4, 3.5, 3.5, 3.7, 3.7, 3.9, 4.0

Entering 5 % just gets the %-character removed.
Zooming to 600 %, even size 2 pt can easily be read.

I tried this with the following fonts:
Arial
Deja vu sans
Free Sans
Liberation Sans
Times New Roman
Ubuntu

Kind regards

My experience is that the smallest is 2pt. It's colour might also be set to
white to make it completely visually invisible/

Up to a certain point, depending on the font you are using. Highlight
the text you want affected and then adjust the point size. To do
this, in the tool bar near the top of the window, there is a box with
the name of the font (the default is Times New Roman) and next to that
is a box with the point size in effect (12 is the default). Click on
the arrow to the right of this 12 and select a smaller number. Some
fonts can be made smaller than others.

The smallest size you can select is 6 pt, but if you enter in the box 5%
it get even smaller.

Even if you zoom to the maximum you can't read it anymore.

Just edit the font size of the style associated with that section of text.
If no style is associated with only that section of text, create a new one
and associate it with that text.

Shrink text in OO4

2016-07-16 Thread keith
Hi,

I need to shrink a section of text, in OpenOffice 4 writer, so it shows
very small but can still be read by the computer. Can you tell me how to
do this (if it can be done)?

Many thanks
