Since my original posting, I sent this in as an issue. I hope you don't
mind if I forward you e-mail to assist.

Thank you Paul

Hi Paul,

The Alphabetical Index uses a non-standard-heading paragraph style for
its heading... like the TOC does. The way to get it in the TOC is:

  1. Right-click on the TOC and select Edit Index/Table
  2. Click on the Index/Table tab
  3. In the Create From area, tick the Additional Styles checkbox
  4. Click on the ... button
  5. Select Index Heading
  6. Click on the >> button till you get it at the heading level you
want (eg if you want it looking the same as Heading 1 entries in
the TOC, click the >> button once)
  7. Click on OK, then click on OK again.

Does that help?

During the creation of this document, we have had

to stop the program quite violently). In these cases,
recovery is of no help.

I have placed a copy of the file here for anyone interested

I had no problem opening it. Win XP SP2 and 2.0.2

Perhaps you could shut your computer off, then turn it on again?

If this is the case, then do the following:

Your two files have been stripped, no one can see them. Can you put your
files on a website and send only the link to them?

Also, a second thought: If you prefer to communicate in German, you can
ask again on the German users list (send an email to

de-list too. So, either you can describe in more details, what you want
to achieve or you should upload your files on a website and provide a

Hm, was hast du denn schon gemacht?

I think you are referring to a Primary key for a table. As you create
the table, set your numerical counter field as the Primary key. Its Field
Type must be Integer[INTEGER]. Set AutoValue to Yes.
When you do this, this field will automatically increase in value for
each record for this table.
This might be better explained in the "Getting Started with Base"
chapter available at
http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors2/index.html.

Yes, there is a solution to your problem. Return the software to
Cosmi, and ask for your money back. Then download OpenOffice.org (OOo)
from www.openoffice.org. OOo is a free download, and it is the full
version. It is also most likely a newer version of OOo than what Cosmi
offers. (Cosmi Perfect Pro Office is OOo with at most a few minor changes
if any changes were made other than the name.)
Either Cosmi has made some changes to OOo, or you are not correctly
using it. There are many manuals available at
http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals that could help you.

If you're asking how to unhide hidden columns and/or rows,
drag select columns on both sides of the hidden ones, then
right-click and select 'show'.

Select 'format / print ranges / edit' for all three of these
 questions.

2. how to repeat cell to top when print ?

Rows to repeat

3. How to columns to repeat at left when print ?

Columns to repeat

4. print sheet ? must select pages to print ?

print range

It is possible that your antivirus product changes some of the data being
downloaded. To check to see if this is happening you can use the MD5SUM
utility as described on the download page to verify the integrity of the
downloaded software.

[users] How to character format SS and forms captions in row headings?

2006-05-30 Thread Dr. Christians

Hi,

I have tried everything I know 2 days, to solve this without success...

WinXP home/SP3 - 1.1.nn and 2.0.nn

I'm a US Windows/Latin_1 user and have a MySql database formatted in Danish
as Latin1/Latin1_Danish coming into SS or forms.

As I pull the data into a spreadsheet by way of the MySql connector, the
headings are being formatted in what appears to be German. I have tried all
the options I could find in Tools>Options and tried to re-write the Writer
template language option for captions as well. I looked at the formatting
for default>text>captions and for Language Assist and seem unable to solve
this issue.

I have also tried pulling the data in through a different ODBC connector for
.MDB with same results so I do not think this is the MySql/Java connector
causing it, but rather I believe the templates for new documents may be
translating it as the new document opens.

Suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Regards,

Mike

I am not aware of any. Please see http://l10n.openoffice.org/ to

Hm, can you please tell us, which operating system and which version of
OpenOffice.org you're using? For my point of view, I guess, that you're
trying to open documents, saved in the new default format, with an old
version of OOo. Please go to Help > About and tell us, which version OOo
gives you there.

Hi Lindsay

Did you install the dictionary and thesaurus via File - Wizards -
Install New Dictionaries? I believe yo have to have Java (JRE)
installed for this to work, and an Internet connection running. After
choosing a dictionary you can then set up the thesaurus.

Then you need to set the default language from Tools - Options -Language
Settings - Languages. If the dictionary is installed you will see a
little ABC with a check mark (tick).

Make sure that your language is set by right clicking on the page and
choosing Character in the menu. There should be a box on the Font tab
showing your language.

*Then* save that document as a template File - Templates- Save (call it
"default" or something like that.
Then File-Templates-Organize -- Select the template you have just saved
and click "Commands" where there is an option to set that as your
default template.

That way all your language settings will be preserved for next time.

Are you using Windows? If so, have you tried uninstall?

If you have Quickstarter running (an icon in the lower right part of

First things, first. OOo lists all the dictionaries that are installed
so seeing Czech probably means you are using one of Pavel Janik's
releases. In any case, OOo uses the language defined in the styles you
use unless you have enabled "Check all languages"

Thesauruses need to be installed. Please use File > Wizard > Install new

Do you want to have one line, repeating the "heading", that you know,
what is in column Z when you're on page 76? If this is, what you want,
please try the following:

Go to Format > Print area > edit
There you can select a row and a column, that should be repeated on
every page, you're printing.

(This is hopefully also the answer for your question no. 3)

> 3. How to columns to repeat at left when print ?
> 4. print sheet ? must select pages to print ?

I don't understand, what you mean with your questions 1 and 4, could you
plese describe it in more details? So maybe someone else might help you.

Yes, you can use OpenOffice.org on a tablet PC, that runs under Windows
XP. OOo can be used with a various number of operating systems. The only
thing, that might be missing are some "extra features" like inserting
data by writing the text manually (with your handwriting, not via
keyboard). But this is only my guess, I don't know, if this is true or
not.

Hi Rory,

I don't see the text of your macro. To assign a keyboard shortcut to a
macro use: Tools/Customize, Keyboard. The interface is a bit odd, but it
works fine. You can assign the shortcut for only Calc or for the entire
group of OOo applications. You have to go to the bottom of the lower
left pane and find OpenOffice.org Macros, press on the plus sign in

Hello Rory,

This discussion list does not allow attachments, so
a) make the XL document available somewhere where we can download it
b) give us a more detailed description of what the macro does.

Macros written in visual basic don't work straight out of the box in
OpenOffice, however, the simple ones can be very, very easily re-created
using StarBasic.

Cheers,

Michele
