[users] Forcing OOo To See Fonts and Importing RTG Images
Greetings: I am using a 1.25Hz eMac running 10.4.11 and OOo 3.2. I find when I import RTF files from another OOo machine that often OOo substitutes a font that it seems it can't find, even though if I go into OOo's font menu it's there ready to be installed. I'm wondering whether this might have to do with how some public domain fonts are recognized by OOo, and whether the same font but which were downloaded from different web locations (and creator?) are recognized as being different fonts by OOo. Secondly, (at least with Macs) I found that OOo can import RTF documents with images provided it's a cut-and-pasted uncompressed PICT or TIFF file. For some reason simply inserting image files into the RTF doc alters it (and maybe compresses?) it such that OOo won't pick it up. Sadly though, OOo can't export images along with OOo RTF documents. [users] LibreOffice - adoption
Hi all Given Novell's recent buy-out of Sun Microsystems, the subsequent loss of OOo and OpenSolaris it is time to shift towards LibreOffice to show support for the history of OOo and the ethos of open source software. Having just recently installed the 3.3 beta version for Debian testing, I'm pleased to be able to report a clean bill of health, a vibrant community and a stable code-base. Making the switch is quite straight forward. Just follow the instructions at the document foundation http://www.linux.com/news/enterprise/biz-enterprise/366193:libreoffice-and-document-foundation-announced as well as described here http://www.documentfoundation.org/. Re: [users] Re: TOC and PDF export problem [SOLVED, sort of]
Barry, I'm going try to answer kindly and respond with respect, but I will say that even doing that is more than what you have done in your responses. Threatening people does not always help and often just makes things worse. This is the OpenOffice mailing list. If you are receiving emails from this list, then it is because you are, somehow, subscribed to the list. If you read the messages, at the bottom are the instructions to unsubscribe. If you read those and do what they say, you won't get more emails from us. As to reporting anyone to the FCC, I understand the anger that leads to one making threats, but, in this case, there is no benefit to making that threat. This list is made up of mostly volunteers and follows any rules or even suggested rules, for email lists. The people in charge are very careful about that. You are not dealing with a company, like Microsoft or Apple, so there really isn't anyone here that will be hurt by such a report. But since your goal seems to be to get no more emails, then follow the instructions to unsubscribe at the bottom of the emails you receive. If that doesn't work, and you show respect for others instead of using profanity, perhaps people will find it in their hearts to show you the kindness of helping you to the limit of their ability.
