2008-05-06 Thread ccornell - OpenOffice.org

The WS2008 installing bloke just installed OO.o as a normal app and it
works on all thin client logins no problems. I only need to get program
install privileges to add the dictionaries. Locked down users can't
install them and i can't install them system wide. I do need to run
through the licence/registration steps on a per user basis which is a
pain, but i am putting an OO.o Writer shortcut on every desktop for them
anyway.

Have you read the OOo Admininstration Guide on this?
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/Administration_Guide/Deactivating_Registration_Wizard
You can use an Extension (provided on that Wiki page) to disable the
Registration Wizard.

I did specify HP T5135 Linux Thin Clients. Gotta have the OpenSource
Scourge in there somewhere.

I note that a few questions have come up on the subject, but very few
answers.

You might find some information about OO.o with citrix ( now what
Presentation something? ) but will that help you with WS2008, don't know.

Anyway a search for Terminal Server or Citrix at OOoForum brings up a
bunch of hits and the same will get a few hits at the community forum. A
quick ( very quick ) review shows that some folks seem to be running
just fine and some having lots of problems...lol...so what's new.

One thing that I can't find is a decent "how to" or tutorial on the
subject. ( doesn't mean there isn't one to be found though ) If you are
getting ready to do a deployment maybe you could keep that in mind and
offer back your experiences - the Wiki would be a great place for
something like that IMO.
