you should open a bugzilla, flagged with FutureFeature keyword (to

point of view I use those columns as first warning, that something 
should be changed.

But what about the user that wants to find out which machine has most free
space, to temporarily host some large set of files?

I did try to put the sd to maintenance and back to active as Eduardo
pointed before but it didn't work. That was with engine 3.2, today I'll
try again with engine 3.3 to see if it behaves the same way.

A reminder to everyone, we're getting close to the deadline! I would
love to see some dev/DevOps-focussed presentations about oVirt at the
conference. Again, I would love to see some oVirt users propose topics
about how the use, manage and deploy oVirt in real life circumstances.

Some ideas I think might get in, if you've done any of these and are
interested in presenting, let me know:

* Using Foreman/Puppet/Ansible/... with the oVirt APIs & CLI to
orchestrate & provision VMs on oVirt
* Using oVirt for VDI
* Migrating from vSphere to oVirt
* Using VDSM hooks and scripts to tweak VM lifecycle management
* Storage - how to add a new storage engine type to oVirt (using
libgfapi support as an example, perhaps?)

Hi all
I'm using rhevm which is derived from ovirt ;
I want to create vms through REST Apis ,& got stuck in.:-( 
How can I create a vm from a template and specifiy a new storagedomain to hold 
the new vm's disk(clone the template's to new storagedomain);

I can do this operation through the web interface,I'v consulted the rhev 
Developer Guide,and get nothing;

do you have any ideas :-)___

thanks for reporting the issues.

Regarding the 1st one, the feature is still in preview, so it still has quite a 
lot of issues. But could you do me a favor and take a look if the debug output 
is printing some text when you click the screen (after resizing)? The debug 
output can be enabled via a browser console (using inspect element, for 
instance). I'm aware of the fact the debug output contains quite a lot of error 
messages, but I would be interested if it contains anything that is related to 
this resizing problem.

As for the ssl key, I'm not totally sure, but I think the reason is that the 
proxy is intended to run under the ovirt user.

I have been using the HTML5 Spice websocket plug-in and so far it works 
extremely well. I just have two comments/bugs about it. I look on the 
issue tracker and I did not see an appropriate component listed, so I

* When the virtual screen is resized (such as during boot when the GUI 
login is displayed) the mouse cursor gets messed up and clicking only 
clicks the upper left corner of the screen.
* The SSL key has to be readable by the ovirt user rather than root 
*cough*. Maybe the proxy_wstunnel apache module could be of use to avoid 
SSL in the plugin.

I guess it probably is that bug. I'm guessing that once the doc is updated
someone will have to fix libvirt so that it uses the offset it gets back
from qemu to work out what the offset from utc it should store is.

[Users] replacing self-signed certificates

Hello,

I searched around but could not come up with specific instructions for how
to replace the self-signed certificates in an oVirt 3.3 setup with
non-self-signed certificates. I need to ensure that my oVirt/SPICE client
actually does the right thing when connecting to a machine with a 3rd party
signed certificate.

Presumably, I would be able to adapt the instructions provided here:
http://www.ovirt.org/How_to_change_engine_host_name

right? Which steps need to be modified? If I hammer at it long enough, I
would probably succeed in getting it to work at some point, but I was
hoping for somebody more experienced to help me over the initial hurdle.

In case I have to reinstall to use non-self-signed certificates, how do I
go about preparing the environment prior to running engine-setup?

I was a little bit to enthusiastic and removed a Test-Datacenter with 1
test cluster and 1 host in it.
Now I have these error messages (but the host doesn't exist anymore) :
Host apollo01 became non responsive. It has no power management configured.
Please check the host status, manually reboot it, and click "Confirm Host
Has Been Rebooted"

It should report that disk which has higher utilization, because from my
point of view I use those columns as first warning, that something
should be changed.

But what about the user that wants to find out which machine has most free
space, to temporarily host some large set of files?
I think, there are two problem. How to show disk utilization if I have 
more than one disk and how to sort disk utilization if I have more than 
one disk.


1) Show more disks utilization: I think, it should be shown in one 
column next to each another like IP addresses.


2) How to sort.
2a) It could be sorted by most/least used disk
2b) as arithmetic mean of all disk percentage utilization
3b) sort by alphabetically first disk utilization (user can change 
name to have it sorted)(Disk_a 80%, Disk_b 50% == Server disk 
utilization sorted as 80%)


My point why I want disk utilization column is, that I want to see which 
disk should be grown.

I don't know about the native SPICE client, but here is what I did for 
apache and the websocket proxy:


In /etc/httpd/conf.d/ssl.conf it lists
SSLCertificateFile
SSLCertificateKeyFile
SSLCertificateChainFile
SSLCACertificateFile

Those are the files you need to replace for the web interface. My certs 
were combined, so I actually only use SSLCertificateFile and 
SSLCertificateChainFile


NOTE: If you modify ssl.conf, the path 
/etc/pki/ovirt-engine/apache-ca.pem is used by ovirt-iso-uploader. 
Uploads will fail unless you replace/symlink that file or specify a CA 
certificate on the command line. I actually linked to my chain file and 
it seems to be happy.




Websocket Proxy:

/etc/ovirt-engine/ovirt-websocket-proxy.conf.d/10-setup.conf defines the 
certificates.


The websocket proxy needs a combined certificate file with your cert and 
the entire chain for SSL_CERTIFICATE
SSL_KEY is just the unencrypted key, and it MUST be accessible by the 
ovirt user.




As for spice, I am not sure, I am guessing it is 
/etc/pki/ovirt-engine/keys/engine_id_rsa  and 
/etc/pki/ovirt-engine/keys/certs/engine.cer

Not sure where they are referenced except by the websocket proxy.

We have seen a similar issue with OpenLDAP that required to set the
minimum security strength factor (SSF) to 1 instead of the default 0.
This default triggers a bug in the Java virtual machine Kerberos support.

Usually there is no need to replace any other certificate than the certificate 
that is used for apache frontend.

No need to touch the spice and other certificates and keys.

Replace /etc/pki/ovirt-engine/apache-ca.pem with your 3rd party CA certificate 
chain.
Replace /etc/pki/ovirt-engine/keys/apache.p12 with key store.
Extract key from apache.p12 to /etc/pki/ovirt-engine/keys/apache.key.nopass do 
not protect with password.
Extract certificate from apache.p12 to /etc/pki/ovirt-engine/certs/apache.cer

Alternatively, you can configure the mod_ssl as you wish.

Once you do this, if you have ovirt-node already installed, delete 
/etc/pki/vdsm/certs/engine_web_ca.pem to allow fetch ssl trust and allow 
registration in future.

FWIW this corresponds to Windows Server 2003 R2 as you said above.  So
I guess that your /var/lib/virt-v2v/virt-v2v.db or /etc/virt-v2v.conf
doesn't contain an OS matching this.

However my copy of virt-v2v.db certainly *does* have it:

  
/usr/share/virtio-win/drivers/amd64/Win2003
  

I can't remember how this is added.  Maybe you need to install the
virtio-win drivers?

Hi Koen

Please execute the following query on your DB

select vds_id from vds_static where vds_name='apollo01';

If you get a vds_id value (lets mark it as ) , perform from psql prompt:

> select DeleteVdsStatic('');

Please let me know if that helped and open a BZ if you can reproduce that .

It should report that disk which has higher utilization, because 
from my

point of view I use those columns as first warning, that something
should be changed.

But what about the user that wants to find out which machine has most
free
space, to temporarily host some large set of files?

I think, there are two problem. How to show disk utilization if I have
more than one disk and how to sort disk utilization if I have more than
one disk.

1) Show more disks utilization: I think, it should be shown in one
column next to each another like IP addresses.

2) How to sort.
 2a) It could be sorted by most/least used disk
 2b) as arithmetic mean of all disk percentage utilization
 3b) sort by alphabetically first disk utilization (user can change
name to have it sorted)(Disk_a 80%, Disk_b 50% == Server disk
utilization sorted as 80%)

My point why I want disk utilization column is, that I want to see which
disk should be grown.


i suggest you open a bugzilla with this to keep track, etc.

FWIW this corresponds to Windows Server 2003 R2 as you said above.  So
I guess that your /var/lib/virt-v2v/virt-v2v.db or /etc/virt-v2v.conf
doesn't contain an OS matching this.

However my copy of virt-v2v.db certainly *does* have it:

   
 /usr/share/virtio-win/drivers/amd64/Win2003
   

I can't remember how this is added.  Maybe you need to install the
virtio-win drivers?


Iam running virt-v2v on Fedora 19. OVirt is 3.3.0 version..

You probably want to ask Matt Booth about this ...

thank you for reply. I added windows 2003 entry, copied files from 
virtio-win iso to directory, but it failed again. I give it up, because 
converting is way too slow and always fails in the end. I found, that 
best way to convert virtual machine is with clonezilla and nfs.
