[ovirt-users] #811481 - ovirt-guest-agent service still doesn't start - Debian Bug report logs

2016-01-20 Thread Yaniv Kaul
FYI - https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=811481 :

When systemd is used, ovirt-guest-agent still doesn't start. The
problem is that /var/log/ovirt-guest-agent owner is set to root:root, so
the daemon can't write to the directory and fails. (The directory
ownership is fixed in init.d script but that is not executed with
systemd.)

 I need to use "nic" instead of "hostnic" but then I don't have the
 options to say this is a --parent-host-name. Only VM related command
 options.

 So I think the documentation is behind.

 Can somebody help me with what the command is to add a IP to a

 The "sync network" operation is not supported by ovirt-shell.

 If you want to set the network configuration, and make it persistent,
 then you will need to use one of the "setupNetworks" operations. These
 aren't fully usable with ovirt-shell either, so if you want to use it
 you will need to use directly the API or one of the SDKs. For example,
 lets assume that you have a host with network interfaces eth0, eth1, and
 eth2, and that you want to configure eth1 and eth2 as a bond, to put
 your VLAN and IP address on top. You can do that with a script like this:

 ---8<---
 #!/bin/sh -ex

 url="https://engine.example.com/ovirt-engine/api";
 user="admin@internal"
 password="..."

 curl \
 --verbose \
 --cacert /etc/pki/ovirt-engine/ca.pem \

 hmz pressed sent by accident

 What I want to say is:

 Now I got the message that my network is out-of-sync. How can i force
 within the ovirt-shell that it syncs the networks?
 Because when I press "Sync All Networks" the IP address disappears

 But when I check the box "Sync Network" within the VLAN602 options it
 gets pushed to the host.

 Is there a difference between the both? And how do I run both via
 ovirt-shell?

We tend to develop toward the master branch first, then backport into 3.6.x.
So for example, if you'd like to improve translation (thanks for that!),
we'll add it to master first.
While master is not as stable,it should be working - and if it's not,
please let us know promptly - we strive to make it deployable and pass
basic sanity tests.

[ovirt-users] Alpha version of the Ruby SDK ready for use

2016-01-20 Thread Juan Hernández
Hello,

Version 4 of oVirt will include a new Ruby SDK. It is currently in
"alpha" status, but I think it is already usable. It is available from
"rubygems.org":

  https://rubygems.org/gems/ovirt-engine-sdk

You can install it as usual:

  $ gem install ovirt-engine-sdk

There are examples of how to use it in the source code itself:

  https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine-sdk-ruby/blob/master/sdk/README.md
  https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine-sdk-ruby/tree/master/sdk/examples

Any feedback is welcome, via this list, reporting bugs:

  https://bugzilla.redhat.com/enter_bug.cgi?product=ovirt-engine-sdk-ruby

Or sending patches to gerrit:

  $ git clone git://gerrit.ovirt.org/ovirt-engine-sdk-ruby.git

Regards,
Juan Hernandez

Or have the ovirt guest agent running - Which handles the shutdowns and reboots

 The command should be like this:

# update nic bond0 --parent-host-name server01 --network-name VLAN602
 --boot_protocol static --ip-address 10.10.10.10 --ip-netmask 255.255.255.0

 Note that the it is "nic" instead of "hostnic" and that you need to
 specify the name of that NIC, in this case "bond0".

 The command will work if you type it like that, but auto-completion
 won't work. This is a bug in the CLI, indirectly caused by the fact that
 the name of the URL segment used in the RESTAPI is "nics" (from
 /hosts/{host:id}/*nics*) but the name of the XML schema complex type is
 "HostNIC".

Re: [ovirt-users] Ovirt python API clone VM to other data domain

2016-01-20 Thread Algirdas Žemaitis
Thank you, this was the solution,
Modified version of original script available here: http://pastebin.com/GEtSJMCN
Original : https://github.com/wefixit-AT/oVirtBackup

Diff: moded version is doing backup for all running VMS in cluster, trying to
clone VM into different storage domain (avoiding load on main domain)
Please remove "iterration" if statement, I was using it to stop script from
doing backup for all VMs (testing)

 I have configured spacewalk server and linked several hosts and hosted
 engine to the spacewalk/satellite provider.

 When I click the "Errata" menu item I still get an error:
 "Problem retrieving errata: The engine is not associated with a
 Foreman/Satellite provider. No errata for the engine are available." =>
 http://screencast.com/t/aVfmJ21wTi

 In the /var/log/ovirt-engine/engine.log I see :

 2016-01-19 21:58:52,966 ERROR
 [org.ovirt.engine.core.bll.host.provider.foreman.SystemProviderFinder]
 (default task-21) [] Failed to find host on any provider by host name '
 hostedengine..nl'

 The hosted engine hostedengine..nl is registered in spacewalk
 and when I go to virtual machines and click the hosted engine's Errata tab
 it does show results.

 I am running oVirt 3.6.1 on Centos 6 x64 hosts and hosted-engine too.

 What is required to get the Errata tab working too?

 Best Regards,
 Paul

Re: [ovirt-users] Problem showing errata from main menu ( Errata on VM or Host tab shows correct )

2016-01-20 Thread Paul Groeneweg | Pazion
I have log file attached.
I cleared the log and ran:

1. entered Errata of inframan.pazion.nl, hostedengine.pazion.nl,
jenkins.pazion.nl => OK
2. entered Errata of samurai2.pazion.nl == controlapnel2.pazionhgosting.nl
=> error
3. editted provider and saved of samurai2.pazion.nl
4. entered Errata of samurai2.pazion.nl == controlapnel2.pazionhgosting.nl
 =>
5. entered Errata in left menu

I see this error 'Failed to find host on provider' is showing also with
correct connects.

I am running spacewalk 2.4 on centos 6 x64

When I switch provider to https for connection it fails, probably because a
self signed certificate. Http is working, but when I open spacewalk server
with http it redirects me to https, so maybe this is part of the problem?
Altough on VM level all is working

Let me know if you need more logs.

Can you please try this as root on the engine machine:

HOST=192.168.208.21; D=$(mktemp -d /tmp/test123-XXX); echo test >
"${D}"/f1; tar -C "${D}" -cf - . | ssh -i
/etc/pki/ovirt-engine/keys/engine_id_rsa "${HOST}" 'umask 0077;
MYTMP="$(TMPDIR="${OVIRT_TMPDIR}" mktemp -d -t ovirt-XX)";
trap "chmod -R u+rwX \"${MYTMP}\" > /dev/null 2>&1; rm -fr
\"${MYTMP}\" > /dev/null 2>&1" 0; tar --warning=no-timestamp -C
"${MYTMP}" -x &&  ls -lR "${MYTMP}"'; rm -rf "${D}"

If it does not work, please try running sshd on the host under strace, e.g.:

strace -f -o /tmp/trace-sshd -tt -s 4096 -p $(cat /var/run/sshd.pid)

and then check/post /tmp/trace-sshd.

You can do this with both the test command above and host-deploy.
You can kill strace when finished.

Thanks,

Depending on the Linux variant that you have installed you may need to
have the acpid daemon installed and running in order to process
correctly the shutdown IRQ.
