Hi,

In order to create a new ISO domain or import an existing one to a data
center, you need the data center to have at least one active storage domain
of type data.

Re: [ovirt-users] Upgrade 4.0.6 to 4.1.1 -- How to Update oVirt Node (4.x) Hosts?

2017-05-02 Thread Yuval Turgeman
Looks like your repos are not set up correctly. oVirt node is an image and
the update is a complete image as well, containing a set packages that were
tested and known to work well together. This means that when you yum
update your system, a single "ovirt-node-ng-image-update" rpm should be
installed instead of a list of packages like you mentioned. That's
probably what messed things up. How did you configure your repos ?

Re: [ovirt-users] Trouble Adding Gluster Host in oVirt Manager

2017-05-02 Thread Langley, Robert
No, the Engine does not currently have communication directly to the storage
network where GSA-Stor1 (aka GSA-Stor1e.engine.local) and GSA-Stor2 reside. The
host it is running on does have access.
Where am I supposed to go from here?

Is the gsa-stor1e.engine.local accessible to the the engine VM? If so, you
should be adding the hosts to engine using this address.
Once the host is added, create a Logical network in the cluster (non-VM
network) and assigne this a role of "Gluster" network in the cluster. You can
then assign this network to the gsa-stor1s.local using the host's "Setup
Networks" option. This will ensure that gluster is aware of this network to be
used while creating bricks from the UI.

These log files can be large for sending in email. So, I’m guessing it is best
to send them as compressed. I’m learning here with the mailing list.

Re: [ovirt-users] Trouble Adding Gluster Host in oVirt Manager

2017-05-02 Thread Langley, Robert
I remember why I couldn't add the network interface using the Manager.
It is requiring me to make the storage network a VM network. But, besides the
Engine using it to be able to communicate with the storage servers, it is not a
VM network. So, that it where I question what I should do. Just make the
storage network a VM network for the sake of the Engine VM?

Create a new DATA domain with what you really need. Then make that the
master and put the old one into maintenance and remove it.

That should do what you need.

Re: [ovirt-users] Trouble Adding Gluster Host in oVirt Manager

2017-05-02 Thread Langley, Robert
Okay, no, the Engine does not have that communication.
So, this answers a question I have had. The requirements for the Engine are
similar in nature as vSphere's VCenter server, where the VCenter server has to
have a direct connection to the storage networks. Makes sense, they have to be
managed by the Engine. I wasn't sure if the Engine somehow used the host's
network connection without having its own.

Then, what I need to know, is how to go about connecting the storage network to
the Engine VM? I have not found this in documentation.
Also, do I need to do the same thing for the Engine's storage network
(192.168.3.x)? Or, is that supposed to have been done already, as part of setup?
I have looked around in the Manager and attempted to add an interface for the
VM storage network (192.168.2.x) for the Engine. I believe I was met with
resistance. I feel as though I may have been going about it wrong.

Thank you,
Robert

Re: [ovirt-users] oVirt and Openstack Neutron: network not working

Hello all,

after some time i've been able to complete the integration between
neutron (deployed with TripleO) and oVirt 4.1

What did i have to do?

First, to have the configuration done directly by ovirt-manager i had
to remove the host and re-add it specifying the external network
provider in the related tab.

The external provider should be configured also to point to the
rabbitmq service listening into the internal_api network of Openstack.
Additionally, all hosts that should use the openstack networks need to
have access to the tenant networks directly or through router (in my
case the tenant network is not routed, so i had to put an interface of
the host in that network).

Then the new host procedure should install and configure all requirements but:

- no openstack packages are installed in ovirt-node-ng image
- no repos available with openstack packages

So i had to install manually this packages:

openstack-neutron
openstack-neutron-openvswitch
openstack-utils
openstack-selinux

from RDO repos (and required to enable CentOS repos for dependencies)

Then install also vsdm openstacknet hook (which is not available in
enabled repos).

Once did this also removing a default iptables policy:

-A INPUT -j REJECT --reject-with icmp-host-prohibited

that denies VXLAN to be established.

Maybe a more detailed rule can be added allowing only the VXLAN port,
but since i'm lazy and is only a lab, i tried with the ANY-ANY-ALLOW
method.

Then if the user adds a new host using as network provider a neutron
provider, the configuration of neutron-openvswitch service should go
on directly and configure all the requirements.

After that the integration is working as i expect.

If you want to do with already existing hosts you need to configure by
hand openstack-neutron. Not a big deal, but if someone does this for
you is better.

I'll post my configuration in another email (need to check if is ok
and has no useless entries).

Had to open this two bugs for asking integration in the setup
procedure and in ovirt-host-ng.
