[ovirt-users] Re: Ovirt node disk broken
Hi all, Did no one have a single node installed where the systemdisk is broken? I have reinstalled the node and have attached the old gluster drives with "force" and i have deploy the hosted engine. Later i have add the gluster volumes to the engine and i could see the VMs that i can import. This i have done but the disks of the VMs where only 64 MB which is the first shard file only. the connection from fist file to the shard file is broken. i assume. where the glusterfs is storing the shard file information? i think it is not possible to backup it because the vm disk can have a lot shard and also new shard files after the backup. [ovirt-users] Ovirt node disk broken
Hi all, On a single Server the node disk is broken and I have to replace it. The glusterfs configuration is also gone but the glusterfs directorys are existing on a separate available disk. Did I have a Chance to install the ovirt Node on a New disk and make the old glusterfs running and also the 7 vms included the hosted engine? I can also deploy a New hosted engine but can I than import the existing gluster disk from the old Installation? I have installed the node and also mount the gluster_bricks but to make the volumes available I have not found any command. It is an ovirt 4.3.10 Installation. Is there any chance to save some time. Hi, We shutdown the complete ovirt system, if a poweroutage occurs and we don't want to make an hard power off. So we stop all vms, put the storages in maintenance and shut down the engine, disconnect storages and shut down the nodes. [ovirt-users] Right Glusterfs Config on HA Server
Hi Guys or Girls, I have a problem in a productive system. We use three Servers which have a Raid 5 with four Harddrives SATA 8 TB 7200 rpms. The Systems are interconnected for glusterfs with 1 GB/s. The Network Load between all three servers are between 5 and 8 % of the network. The Glusterfs has a separate VLAN which compltete isolated from other networks. Find attached a small drawing. On that server we rum as HA and there are 8 VMs installed. Most of the VMs working well but if there is high load on the system some of the VM can't write the Data in a "good" speed on the disks. The Glusterfs is configured as Replica on the Raid5 disk which is as Jbob in Glusterfs defiend. If i take a look on the iostats i can see that the Harddisk have round 50 open connections some of the glusterfs and a lot of the vms. In side the VMs i can see long iowaiting times from 300 up to 600 ms. With is on case of a Posgresql database very long. Should we configure the Raid5 controller out that the controller only should 4 disks with 8 TB and Glusterfs should connect directly to the /dev/sd[b-e]? What do you think? Will SSD HDD will help on performance but the same config with Raid5 and Jbod could be the bigger problem. Hi, we use this way. is from this mailing list from 2017. Mr Narra from Redhat wrote this at aug. 9 2017: 1) Stop all the virtual machines. 2) Move all the storage domains other than hosted_storage to maintenance which will unmount them from all the nodes. 3) Move HE to global maintenance 'hosted-engine --set-maintenance --mode =global' 4) stop HE vm by running the command 'hosted-engine --vm-shutdown' 5) confirm that engine is down using the command 'hosted-engine --vm-status' 6) stop ha agent and broker services on all the nodes by running the command 'systemctl stop ovirt-ha-broker' ; 'systemctl stop ovirt-ha-agent' 7) umount hosted-engine from all the hypervisors 'hosted-engine --disconnect-storage' 8) stop all the volumes. 9) power off all the hypervisors. To bring it up back again below steps will help. 1) Power on all the hypervisors. 2) start all the volumes 3) start ha agent and broker services on all the nodes by running the command 'systemctl start ovirt-ha-broker' ; 'systemctl start ovirt-ha-agent' 4) Move hosted-engine out of global maintenance by running the command hosted-engine --set-maintenance --mode =none 5) give some time for the HE to come up. check for hosted-engine --vm-status to see if HE vm is up. 6) Activate all storage domains from UI. 7) start all virtual machines. br marcel Am 21. [ovirt-users] Re: Add Node to a single node installation with self hosted engine.
moin, I start to generate the physical bricks and create an iso brick which is also available on the single node. the iso brick I create as redundant and I would like to move all data from iso single install to the Redundanz iso. than I delete the single node iso and make a new one and add this to the Redundant iso. I think this will be work but I am not sure if the engine volume will accept this. br marcel Am 27. [ovirt-users] Add Node to a single node installation with self hosted engine.
Hi, I got a problem with my Ovirt installation. Normally we deliver Ovirt as single node installation and we told our service guys if the internal client will have more redundancy we need two more server and add this to the single node installation. i thought that no one would order two new servers. Now I have the problem to get the system running. First item is, that this environment has no internet access. So I can't install software by update with yum. The Ovirt installation is running on Ovirt node 4.3.9 boot USB Stick. All three servers have the same software installed. On the single node I have installed the hosted Engine package 1,1 GB to deploy the self-hosted engine without internet. That works. Gluster, Ovirt, Self-Hosted engine are running on the server 01. What should I do first? Deploy the Glusterfs first and then add the two new hosts to the single node installation? Or should I deploy a new Ovirt System to the two new hosts and add later the cleaned host to the new Ovirt System? I have not found any items in this mailing list which gives me an idea what I should do now. [ovirt-users] Network requirements for ovirtmgmt
Hi, we currently have a big layer 2 network in our datacenters, so every node in a cluster can reach the other nodes in the datacenter on network layer 2. In the future we'd like to route directly on the switches and connect the nodes in one cluster, as well es other clusters in one datacenter via network layer 3. The question now is, do we need multicast and/or broadcast for any operation, or is the connectivity with layer 3 fine? [ovirt-users] admin account constantly gets locked
Hello, a few days ago I installed an ovirt-engine 4.2.2.6 following the steps of the documentation. After the installation I logged in to the admin page, configured a datadomain and changed the admin password. After a few hours I tried to login again, using the new password and got "Unable to log in because the user account is disabled or locked. Contact the system administrator." So I unlocked the admin account from the shell using "ovirt-aaa-jdbc-tool user unlock admin" which worked fine and I was able to continue working till the next login. [ovirt-users] Problem adding Labels to Bonds on big clusters
Hi, I currently have some trouble adding a label to a bond on an host. The problem seems to come from the number of Vlans (108 in that label) and the number of hosts (160 in 4 cluster). As far as I can tell the process gets finished on the node (all the network configurations are there in the log), but ovirt seems to fail sometime after the node has nothing to do anymore. The Logs gives me a timeout error for the configuration command. Does anyone know how to encrease the timeout or fix that problem an other way? Re: [ovirt-users] RESTAPI and kerberos authentication
Hi, I've managed to get it work. What I've done is to first run "engine-manage-domains delete" to remove the domain and add it again using the new aaa extension tool "ovirt-engine-extension-aaa-ldap-setup". It's not a good idea to mix these two methods, I guess. Restart the engine after each change. To get rid of the double authentication for the webadmin portal I changed in /etc/httpd/conf.d/ovirt-sso.conf "" to "" So Kerberos SSO will be used for the API only. Re: [ovirt-users] RESTAPI and kerberos authentication
Hi, I'm using curl and I followed steps in [1] and double checked the permissions. I've tested API access vs. webadmin access (see below). $ curl -v --negotiate -X GET -H "Accept: application/xml" -k https://server8.funfurt.de/ovirt-engine/webadmin/?locale=de_DE # Result: HTTP 401 $ kinit $ curl -v --negotiate -X GET -H "Accept: application/xml" -k https://server8.funfurt.de/ovirt-engine/webadmin/?locale=de_DE # Result: HTTP 200 $ curl --negotiate -v -u : -X GET -H "Accept: application/xml" -k https://server8.funfurt.de/api/vms # Result: HTTP 401 Therfore I believe httpd config is fine. For engine.log and and properties file see attachment. I've also attached console output from curl. [ovirt-users] RESTAPI and kerberos authentication
Hello, I need to automatically create a list of all the VMs and the storage path to their disks in the data center for offline storage for desaster recovery. We have oVirt 3.6 and IPA 4.2.0. To achieve this my idea was to query the API using Kerberos authentication and a keytab. This could then run as cronjob. Using username and password is not an option. To configure oVirt for use with IPA I've run engine-manage-domains but the result is not exactly what I'm looking for (despite from the fact, that I can add direcotry users etc.). Next I tried the generic LDAP provider as per documentation https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Virtualization/3.5/html/Administration_Guide/sect-Directory_Users.html It was quite easy to get Apache to authenticate against IPA, but I did not manage to access the API. Each try ended with an "HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized". At the moment Apache authentication appears first and then the RESTAPI auth dialog comes up. Some facts about my setup: oVirt Host: -OS: CentOS 6.7 -Engine Version: 3.6 IPA Host: -OS: CentOS 7.2 -IPA Version: 4.2.0 I might mix some things up. Please help me to find out how to achieve my goal. I can provide more information if required. Thanks a lot!
