My 'demos' weren't more than answering questions by showing how things are done. It would be nice to do what René did but also to show some integration with and around oVirt but for that you'll need a hardware setup that is flexible enough to do that, helped by in his case people with live usb ovirt keys. Might try to setup something like that at work to show off oVirt. Joop ___ Users mailing list Users@ovirt.org http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users

"You can just bring them to the conference with you (or if you won't be attending, send a PDF to lisa14l...@usenix.org and we'll print them and put them in the lab on your behalf). Not really hardware, but a software solution that would be a little more robust than the current LiveUSB version. But what's key to this discussion is, what features of oVirt should be highlighted for a self-guided demo? Joop, you've done demos in the past, what features did you highlight? Greg: How soon is soon? My concern here is that I don't know how much we can show them on networking and migration, when these are self-contained machines. I think we need to create an image that includes some VMs to play with, too. I have had spotty luck connecting to the Glance repository of images. I'm not a feature expert, so I'm not sure what else people love and would want to see in a self-demo. Maybe Itamar has some ideas. Brian, when do you think we can have this drawn up by? I'd like to give the conference leaders our content soon so we're committed to having it in the lab. Not at this time, but I will want to draw some up. A brief outline that I have in mind is: 1) Introduction to oVirt GUI 2) Setting up a VM 3) Managing Multiple VMs 4) Enable user procurement of VMs Since it's the all in one LiveUSB version, we can't show the live migration feature, which is too bad. Are there other features we should add? Brian, You're right -- you're not harping :) I asked for details on the lab, and I'll get back to you. Re: [ovirt-users] oVirt All-In-One instructions for presentation?
Okay... do we know that the set up will be? Can we just have them install some VMs on the lab machines or use the aforementioned LiveUSB sticks? Not to harp, but setting up a demo will be easier if we know what we are working with. Re: [ovirt-users] oVirt All-In-One instructions for presentation?
Hi Brian, "It would be fantastic if you could rework this topic into a lab. You do not need to be present. Just put together a one or two page 'worksheet' that walks Lab attendees through oVirt. If you like, you could also sign up for an 'office hours' timeslot, where you could discuss oVirt with Lab attendees and assist them with the worksheet." So it sounds like it can be any length. This is something attendees will come into the lab and try on their own time. How long of a lab would this need to be? I agree the all-in-one might be the best option; we could also use the LiveUSB version to let oVirt run without a hard install. Hi Greg, I do have a slide set for an 3 hour oVirt workshop (atm only German as I didn't had enough time to translate the slides into English), but I think this is not what you're looking for... [ovirt-users] oVirt All-In-One instructions for presentation?
Hi, I submitted a tutorial proposal to LISA '14 called "Hands-on with oVirt," but it was rejected. However, we can still get oVirt in front of people if we rework it as a "lab."
