It is there. Everyone is supposed to use it. Nobody seems to like it.

A change to follow classic unix config file style had been made a while ago,
but then nobody sponsored it. YAML http://www.yaml.org/spec/1.2/spec.html
looks like a good candidate to me. Still someone would have to program that
configuration interface first.

You could file a RFE in the bugtracker. :)

what you see in the examples is the translated output of the xml file
by using defaults read.
