If those rules are causing you trouble, you should look at your
ok_locales setting.

By default this is set to "all" which should make those rules never
match anything. However, if you change it to something else, then these
rules will start firing off..

I'd suggest not doing that. First try to fix the problem, not the symptoms.

2007-11-21 Thread Jared Hall

Default SpamAssassin Scores:

CHARSET_FARAWAY_HEADER 3.200
CHARSET_FARAWAY 3.200
HTML_CHARSET_FARAWAY 0.500
MIME_CHARSET_FARAWAY 2.450

Try adding something like:

score CHARSET_FARAWAY_HEADER 0
score CHARSET_FARAWAY 0
score HTML_CHARSET_FARAWAY 0
score MIME_CHARSET_FARAWAY 0

to your local.cf file.

Happy Trails,

Unfortunately combined score is too high and they get marked as SPAM.
Is there any easy way to tweak SpamAssassin in order to exclude these

You *do* read it, you just read it via GMANE, instead of via a mail
reader. Some of us don't like to have our inboxes bombarded with mailing
lists, or prefer not to filter mailing lists to specific mailboxes but
instead isolate mailing list reading to a more comfortable medium which
allows us the ability to reply occasionally.

You need to send an email to

Assuming not many senders are involved, use whitelist_from_rcvd. Run

  man Mail::SpamAssassin::Conf

and then search for that option for details.

If this is just for you, put it in your ~/.spamassassin/user_prefs.
If it should apply site-wide, put it in
/etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf and restart MailScanner.

Maybe iI'm weird but... what is the point to posting to a mailing list
if you don't read it?

The second search result is the relevant one:

You can do the equivalent (to turn off delivery) by un-subscribing
from the user's list and subscribing to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] .

I fail to see the relationship between the OP question and this google
search URL.

The thread in the search url is about filtering mail once it is
received. OP would like not to receive the mail in the first place.

Thanks. But it seems spamassassin -d only removes the markup that "my"
spamassassin did, not those from others (they mangle the headers too, it's

That markup is added by MailScanner not SpamAssassin. SpamAssasin can't
automatically remove that markup, it only removes markup it has added
'natively'.
