but I can't figure out where.

Never mind, the DROPPRIVS line in my procmailrc line get blown away by
accident, which resulted in this error. Had nothing to do with SMP.

Bayes mysql db error

2005-11-01 Thread Mike Loiterman
FreeBSD vesion 5.4
SA version 3.1.0_3
Perl version 5.8.7

I keep getting these errors when spamd tries to work with the mysql db I
setup:

[2615] dbg: bayes: database connection established
[2615] dbg: bayes: found bayes db version 3
[2615] dbg: bayes: unable to initialize database for root user, aborting!
[2615] dbg: bayes: not scoring message, returning undef
[2615] dbg: bayes: opportunistic call attempt failed, DB not readable

I've checked that the db name, user, host, and password are correct about
1000 times. The db exists, can be logged into, the tables are there and it
seems completely functional, expcept for this error. For now, I'm using
root, so there shouldn't be any problems.

For some reason, some messages are not being scanned. I watch my logs and
I can see SA working on a messages, then another comes in and it just get
delivered directly.

I suspect that it as something to do with a timeout on one of the
third-party scanns (razor, pyzor, etc), but don't have any evidence to
support my theory.

I've turned on -D, but don't know what to look for. Any ideas?

Can you tell me more about your setup? I keep getting a failed sanity check

Spamd running on a different server

2004-09-12 Thread Mike Loiterman
I'm trying to get my spamc to send to a spamd running on another server on
my network.

So far, this has been partially successful -- messages are being sent from
the machine running spamc to the machine running spamd and then scanned.

Two problems:
1. On the return trip back to spamc...spamc dies with a failed sanity check
error. I suspect this is an error related to the user running spamc being
different then the user running spamd. I tried running spamd with the
--username=root, but the spamd wouldn't start saying that it won't run as a
non-exsistant user or as root.
2. I can't figure out how to get the spamd running on the other machine to
read the user pref files located on the machine running spamc.

Any ideas?

Where would I do this fancy configuration?

Running spamd on different server and user profiles

2004-09-12 Thread Mike Loiterman
If I run spamd on a different server, how are the user profiles for my local
users handled?
