It's not actually evident what you added to that page, given
superoverdrive Toby.

For others' reference, your addition is:
http://wiki.apache.org/tapestry/WishList?action=diffrev2=98rev1=94

I think what you ask is feasible: it's not that different from what is
done by BeanEditForm, just the source of the field list is not
determined by reflection but loaded from an external source.

I agree it would be a nice addition to T5, but it has not been done yet.

The point is: you are asking for a new feature (and a large one, I 'd
say), so you cannot expect a simple answer on the mailing list. Look at
JIRA improvement issues, to find out whether this has already been
requested by someone else. If not, submit a new Issue, describing with
the greatest detail how the new feature should work. Then you can ask
the mailing list to vote for your issue, and ask the developers to
consider it. Or if you feel brave enough, write it yourself and submit
it for inclusion.

That's how things are done in OS projects...

Funny, just a few days ago Howard posted a Jira about that:

I'd suggest: wait and see if hls lands a built-in solution before
cooking your own, or contact him and offer your help.

Such dramatic changes within a 5.0.* version should be avoided in my opinion.

You'd better make your homework, then: 5.0.7 was labeled 'Preview', and
the download pages explicitly said that API changes were higly likely to
happen.

If it is necessary, maybe jump to T6 should be done.?

That will never happen. T5 is not even released (T5.0.15 will probably
get Release-Candidate stamping), and Howard has planned a new versioning
schema for further releases where 5 is not going to change, except if a
total rewrite would happen.

Chris, I see you constantly linking me to others. Who is that Francis? I
hope he/she (since that name sounds female to me) is reading and would one
day reply to you.

Ha, Ha, Ha, (ROFL)

Nice try, but that's the most ridiculous attempt I've seen so far.
Everybody, reading the 'elegant' prose of all the 'different' people
referenced by the Troll wiki page, would recognize the messages as
written by a single person. I believe Francis's and Emmanuel's
identities have been banned by the m/l, so we'll never see them again.

I'll tell you, I think you started all this mess using the truest of
your identities (Francis, yet that might not be your true name), and now
you feel the thing may actually fire back. I heartily hope so.

But I continue to wonder what you have against Howard: it's obviously
something you started against him personally, and I think he should take
his cautions to a more serious level (cease and desist, to start with).

Look, every month or so one 'nice' person from the wicket community

from a gmail account.

So, either you actually ARE him (and Gabriel is right in its advice), or
you haven't done your homework before posting (and are yourself feeding

I think [EMAIL PROTECTED] (A.K.A. [EMAIL PROTECTED]) has well passed the
limit I would tolerate if the matter was in my hands

And for what matters, I would also inform his friends at wicket, which
being another of apache's projects should be bound by the same ethics,
what a nice person they have at their court. I can't believe they are OK
with his behavior (I mean: being subscribed to an apache mailing list
under false identity with the only purpose of starting flame threads)

You are missing a central point: the T5 IOC layer generates 'artificial'
classes at runtime, I mean raw JVM bytecode which extend from the
page/component/service classes you write. That's where injected
interfaces get their runtime values.
This process is quite cpu-intensive, so Tapestry chose to do it
on-demand, and by default just for classes beneath a specific package.
Doing it for all and any classes would mean that every class should be
inspected by the IOC enhancer on its first use.
You can contribute additional package names for the ioc to 'enhance',
but for a single application/library one package usually suffices.

If you have component/pages which are reused in more apps, or that you
want to package by themselves for better code organization, extract the
relevant pages/components source templates and package them in a
different maven/Eclipse project which will then be used as a dependency
in your app.
