That isn't the purpose of that code; Tapestry is using that stuff to track user focus as the user moves from field to field. It need to know which field to validate, which to show validation popup for, which to popup to fade. Howard I have a page renders a form with hundreds of buttons(). in tapestry.js file,line 82 . (tapestry5.0.14) It binds a focus event handler on each "INPUT", "SELECT", "TEXTAREA" element.It runs so slowly in IE. It's only included if you need it. Try turning off client-side validation (it's a parameter of the Form component).
