These are the two Problems I know right now. I have not enough

Thanks Sebastian.

What that message says is the opposite... running Virtualbox under Fedora
10, with WinXP as guest. And I guess what happens to him is that he's
running out of virtual memory/HD space, happened to me all the time while I
was playing with (hastala)Vista.

What I want to do is the opposite, run Fedora 10 as guest under WinXP SP2.

I just wanted to know if anyone had installed it by now and if there are any
showstopper / install problems.

I think this could be answered in about 30 minutes with an install disk as
apposed to waiting a couple of days for a response. I'm all for
communication on the forums but if you attempt it and have no problems then
let us know. If however you attempt it and have problems let us know and
we'll help you solve them. Just seems more efficient. :-)

Some people, when confronted with a problem, think "I know, I'll use
Windows."
Now they have two problems.

I agree. But you know why I asked?

I originally thought all Linux distros would be "the same" from a
compatibility point of view. But since the release notes of the last point
update to Virtualbox say "Ubuntu 8.10 is now supported" got me thinking that
perhaps there were some features in the "recent" kernels that needed
tweaking on Virtualbox.

With very freshly released distros, they have the very latest in xorg
and other things. With Fedora 10, it operates fine. But with guest
additions, it will install fine but have compatibility issues due to
the version of xorg. That was the deal with Ubuntu 8.10. It was very
fresh and the latest release of virtualbox at the time was released a
bit before. I am sure the virtualbox developers cannot predict what
version of a package the distro packagers are going to release with so
they fix it afterwards when the version release is "written in stone".
The same I believe will happen with Fedora 10 as it did with Fedora 9.
Either way, try it out. There are some workarounds on the forums if
you check.

Hello Fernando,

The first of the two links (the one I left in the quoted text above)
does affect Fedora 10 guests and the workaround shown is the correct one
(adding vboxvideo to xorg.conf on the guest). I don't know of any other
issues.

Regards,

Michael
