And I thought it was just me

Yeah.. Check for typos... I managed to create a cbd file instead of cdb.
Took me an hour or so to track it down too!

I just wanted to share my rather embarrassing experience with this same type
of problem:

I was seeing the same thing. I ended up having a friend look at my tcp.smtp
file. Within seconds he said, "Uhh, is that supposed to be spelled that
way? Or did you F**K up?" I couldn't believe my eyes. I had misspelled
RELAYCLIENT DU!!! What an idiot !

As soon as I spelled it right, it worked fine!

It has a lot to do with the problem at hand though. If your tcpserver rules say
":accept" but not ":accept,RELAYCLIENT=\"\"", then you'll only accept mail to
domains in rcpthosts. The fact that they're getting this error means they're
not allowed to relay -- the rcpthosts is being checked as a last check before
denying the request ... but you knew that ;-).

check the answers you asked for in CAPS

Please learn to properly quote e-mails that you are responding to. Your
illegible quoting format does NOT encourage people to help you, as they have
to do extra work just to read your e-mails...

I KNOW THANKS, FOR THE SUGGESTIONS.

rcpthosts has NOTHING to do whatsoever with relaying. What does ``TCP'' mean
exactly?

TCP.SMTP

I WAS WENT THROUGH ALL.

This doesn't necessarily mean that you want to use roaming users. Do those
users have static IP addresses? If so, roaming users is not for you...

MY CLIENTS ARE ROAMING THROUGH OUT THE GLOBE, THEY ARE FACING PROBLEM WHEN
THEY DIAL OTHER THAT MY ISP,
IF THEY DIAL MY ISP IAM GETTING MAILS AND SENDING MAILS.

Where? See  for information
on how to do this properly. (Note: you haven't provided information showing
that your problem is with vpopmail. Most likely, you haven't properly
configured qmail to begin with.)

Read ``Life With qmail'' . Read your
logs. Come back with more information than ``IT DOESN'T WORK. NO ONE IS
ANSWERING MY QUESTIONS. YOU SUCK AND YOUR SOFTWARE SUCKS.''

I WAS DONE THIS.

Re: How can I using other crypted password.

I'm hoping that someday soon they use random salts instead though ... seeing
as the first two bytes of the crypted password is the salt to use to match it
anyway ...

or just (php) :

  echo(crypt("password to encrypt", "65536"));

;-)

This will encrypt the password in the way vpopmail can understand it.

Re: How can I using other crypted password.

2000-11-22 Thread Michael T. Babcock

I made it work by selecting the crypt'd password out of the table, taking the first
two chars of it, using
that as the salt against the crypt() function in PHP, then comparing the output to the
crypted password ...

pseudo:

select pw_passwd as $Crypted;
$Salt = left($Crypted, 2);
if (crypt($Password, $Salt) == $Crypted) then password is good.

I should have suggested the use of the ENCRYPT() function, not CRYPT()
(since the latter, like PASSWD(), doesn't exist! ;) .

Thus, the update query should properly be:

  UPDATE vpopmail SET pw_passwd=ENCRYPT('newpassword') WHERE
  pw_user='someuser';

Sorry for the confusion...

There need to be ``='' signs in there, like:

  --enable-cgibindir=/home/giquote/public_html \
  --enable-htmldir=/home/giquote/public_html

and so on.

how to configure the qmailadmin

2000-11-22 Thread richard

Dear sir,
  I use the root in the qmailadmin directory, when I just
run ./configure, it asks me to add the cgi-path and also the html.
Then, I run as root:
./configure --enable-cgibindir /home/giquote/pu\blic_html
--enable-htmldir /home/giquote/public_html

But the output is as followed:

configure: warning: /home/giquote/public_html: invalid host
typeconfigure: warning: /home/giquote/public_html: invalid host
typeconfigure: error: can only configure for one host and one target at a
time

Should I install as root and which directory should I use?
Should it be the directory of the virtual postmaster of the domain
name?

Yours,
Richard Ao

Re: problem with mysqlclient

2000-11-22 Thread Brian Kolaci

To get around this (in both courier & vpopmail)
you should preceed your "configure" command with

LIBS="-R/usr/local/mysql/lib/mysql -L/usr/local/mysql/lib/mysql" ./configure ...

(or substitute the path to your mysql libraries).

Thanks,

Brian
