help for auth with ldap on solaris 8

2001-05-21 Thread new

hello,
I compile vpopmail 4.10.6 on solaris 8 with ldap auth.
but I install openldap in directory /data1/mail/ldap,and
ldap's include in /data1/mail/ldap/include.
  Solaris 8 has own ldap.h in /usr/include/ldap.h.
How can I use my own openldap include and ldap.h?

Re: large v. small site

2001-05-21 Thread Sean C Truman

Ken,

I am thinking of doing the hash for the directories and one thought
would be, In vauth_adddomain create 3 sub levels of hasing using the domain
name. So if domain was prodigysolutions.com the directory would be
/home/vpopmail/domains/pr/od/ig/prodigysolutions.com

Now my question is, Does adduser and other utilities grab the directory from
the assign file or does it assume /home/vpopmail/domains/%s,domain?

don't worry about all accounts being stored in one table..
mysql is used for large tables. 2,000,000+ is no problem for mysql.
and i guess, you're not having that much accounts. (hehe.. just
imagine 2million accounts receiving 5 email of 2kb each..)

MySQL, definitely. Much more manageable and eliminates file locking
difficulties as you scale.

And which scheme you select depends on your systems: Lots of small

Hi guys,

Quick questions for all those that runs web hosting
business, is it better running vpopmail with mysql or cdb support ? If using
mysql, should I use large site setting or not ?
I know with large site setting turn off, everything
would in one table. Is that slow the pop process down ?

Problems with sqwebmail 2.0.0 and vpopmail 4.9.10

2001-05-21 Thread Dave 'Duke of URL' Weiner

I've built sqwebmail 2.0.0 and vpopmail 4.9.10 on a Sparc 220, and I'm
having some problems with authentication. Vpopmail has been setup to do
authentication on a second box running MySQL.

Sqwebmail was built with the following commands:

./configure --with-cachedir \
--enable-webpass=vpopmail \
--enable-cgibindir=/var/www/cgi-bin \
--enable-imagedir=/var/www/html/images \
--enable-imageurl=/images/ \
--with-fcgi \
--without-authpwd \
--without-authshadow \
--without-authpam \
--without-authuserdb \
--with-authvchkpw \
--without-authldap \
--without-authdaemon \
--enable-mimetypes=/etc/httpd/conf/mime.type

make
make install-strip
make install-configure

No errors were reported during the build, and the login screen comes up.

Vpopmail was built with the following commands:

./configure --enable-roaming-users=y \
--enable-ip-alias-domains=y \
--enable-passwd=y \
--enable-mysql=y \
--enable-sqlincdir=/var/lib/mysql/include/mysql \
--enable-sqllibdir=/var/lib/mysql/lib/mysql

make
make install-strip

Vpopmail is working, because I can telnet from an outside box on port 110,
and authenticate as a either a user in a vpopmail domain or a local user,
and get a list of messages. But I can't log in as a local user or a
vpopmail user. I'm pretty sure I can't log in as a local user because
of --without-authpw, --without-authshadow and --without-authpam, and that's
ok, as this will be a userless mail server. But I have --with-authvchkpw
and --enable-webpass=vpopmail, so why can't my vpopmail users log in? I'm
sure it's something simple, but I can't find it reading the FAQ, Manuals,
etc.

TIA,

Dave

ld os Uanble to find -lz

I am trying to compile vpopmail to use mysql. Whenever I use
the --enable-mysql=y, I get an error when I run make which says ld was
unable to locate -lz. Am I missing a package? I don't get any error when I
./configure without the mysql tag.

I have checked the archives but I cannot find a solution to this problem.

I've never seen a solution for this problem using the software you listed above.

You might want to switch over from one machine to the other instead of trying
to keep both machines up and running at the same time.

Here is one migration plan you can use:
1) create all the accounts on the new machine
2) test the accounts
3) Switch over the IP address of the old mail server to the new mail server
4) Copy over the email from the old mail server to the new mail server.

With this plan you have almost zero downtime (time to switch over IP's)
The users old email will not be available untill the copy is completed.
But they will be able to receive/send new emails.

Yes, you will need the mysql development files.

If you are running an OS/Distro that handles rpm's. You can install:
rpm -Uvh MySQL-client-3.23.37-1.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh MySQL-devel-3.23.37-1.i386.rpm

I like to install the client rpm so I can run mysql from the command
line to test things.

Vpopmail and Procmail

2001-05-21 Thread Marcus Williams

Hi -

Does anyone use procmail with vpopmail? If so, does anyone use it
domain wide rather than on a per user basis? I recently submitted a
patch against the vpopmail tree that makes vpopmail more friendly
towards using procmail in front of the vdelivermail executable ie
having a .qmail-default containing "| preline procmail |
vdelivermail.". More specifically it stopped it generating a bogus
blank email with Delivered-to and Return-path headers when procmail
has filtered the email off somewhere else (for instance quarantining
it if it contains a virus). This allows the use of a procmail filter
domain wide rather than having to implement the same script on a user
by user basis (which works nicely but isnt what I want to do).

Since the patch hasnt generated any response I was wondering if there
is an easier way of solving this?

Thanks

Marcus

POP3 proxy solution ?

2001-05-21 Thread Vincent Cheah

Hi,

We are a small ISP and currently having a mail server (InterMail) serving POP3/SMTP
access to our subscribers.
Let's say mail system A= serverA.domain.com.my and user e-mail address like
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

We planning to migate from this mail system to qmail.

And we already setup FreeBSD+qmail+vpopmail+sqwebmail+qmailadmin to provide the same
service POP3/SMTP
Let's say mail system B = serverBdomain.com.my and user e-mail address like
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

For co-existant purpose (migration) ,
Is there a POP3 and SMTP proxy solution such that userA POP3 and SMTP access will
still poiting to serverA and
qmail user (userB) will poiting to serverB ?

Note : Both server having the same e-mail domain name.

Thanks,
