Hello Riccardo, On Thursday, September 4, 2003 at 3:10:29 PM you wrote (at least in part): I am trying to disable the pop before smtp feature in my vpopmail installation. Is there any way to do it without recompiling the software? In general: NO. In this special case: you can point 'tcpserver ... qmail-popup ...' to a .cdb that is not updated by vpopmail/vchkpw. Or with no '-x' at all. But of course all this will not prevent vpopmail/vchkpw from updating the 'open-stmp' and 'tcp-smtp.cdb' files and w/o a regularly run 'clearopensmtp' the open-smtp file will grow and grow and the process of CDB-file creating will sometimes slow down and cost system resources. So for a clean solution w/o any overhead left you'll have to recompile vpopmail w/o '--enable-roaming-users'. -- Best regards Peter Palmreuther 8 of 10 people suffer hemorrhoids the other 2 enjoy them.

If I'm not in confusion, you could just enable (for all users) the flag related to NORELAY, and put the line disabling this feature into the limits file (I don't know anymore where this file is). I get the following error in my maillog: ezmlm-send:_fatal:_temporary_qmail-queue_error:_qq_t rouble_in_home_directory_(#4.3.0)/ The possible causes I found so far are: 1) Corrupt qmail queue. That function was removed in 5.3.26 because it was obsoleted quite a while ago (5.1.10 according to the changelog). Before removing, I remember checking through all the vpopmail source and confirmed there was no calls to this function. However I see now that your patch was using this code still. The recommended way to lookup a real domain is now by calling vget_assign like this : vget_assign(somedomain, NULL, 0, NULL, NULL) If somedomain was an alias domain, it will be rewritten as the real domain If somdomain was a real domain, then it will return unchanged. Hope that helps Michael.
[vchkpw] What if mysql was preinstalled?
I am trying to install vpopmail, and I have a small problem. I started installing vpopmail according to Michael Bowes mysql/vpopmail guide found here... http://www.pipeline.com.au/staff/mbowe/isp/vpopmail-mysql.htm When I got to the part about installing mysql, I realized that mysql was already installed when I loaded Redhat 9. I decided that rather than try to remove it, I would try to use the installation I already had and just configure it accordingly. Well, I managed to work thru that and everything seemed OK until I got to the part where you do a ./configure and there are a bunch of parameters you pass to it like --enable-domain-quotas=n \. I guess there were about 10 of these. Well, the installation didn't go much farther. I got a whole bunch of errors when I did a make afterwards because the paths for the incdir and the libdir are not where they should be. I'm sure if I went thru the installation exactly as Michael Bowes specified, those directories would be exactly where they should be. However, I don't even have a directory for /usr/local/mysql/, much less the lib or include directories. So my question is: Where can I find the needed files, or will this even be a problem? What sort of files are found under the lib and include directories that I need to be concerned about? I have found that most all of the needed files for this installation were actually on the drive, but were not in the locations I expected them to be. _ Express yourself with MSN Messenger 6.0 -- download now! http://www.msnmessenger-download.com/tracking/reach_general
Re: [vchkpw] 5.3.26 error with chkusr patch + mysql
I studied the code, before suggesting that, and Shane confirmed it works ok. The dead function, has been absorbed by an existing function. The existing function is just following the to be commented lines, so the functionality os ok. [But I think the dead routine could be mantained, inside vpopmail, for compatibility, giving time to people to update various patches.] Ciao, Tonino At 04/09/03 04/09/03 -0400, Charles Sprickman wrote: FWIW, I'm getting a similar error with 5.3.27: ./load qmail-smtpd rcpthosts.o commands.o timeoutread.o timeoutwrite.o ip.o ipme.o ipalloc.o control.o constmap.o ssl_timeoutio.o ndelay.a -L/usr/local/ssl/lib -lssl -lcrypto -L/home/vpopmail/lib -L/usr/local/lib/mysql -lvpopmail -lmysqlclient received.o date822fmt.o now.o qmail.o cdb.a fd.a wait.a datetime.a getln.a open.a sig.a case.a env.a stralloc.a alloc.a substdio.a error.a str.a fs.a auto_qmail.o base64.o `cat socket.lib` qmail-smtpd.o: In function `realrcpt_check': qmail-smtpd.o(.text+0xc51): undefined reference to `vget_real_domain' *** Error code 1 As mentioned below, if I comment out the section referencing vget_real_domain in qmail-smtpd.c, it does compile, but I would think that would affect functionality, no? [vchkpw] vpopbull creates messages with root permissions
Hi, I just had a wonderful experience finding out that if you run vpopbull as root in 5.3.26 (maybe earlier versions to) that it drops the message into the users Maildir with root as the uid and gid. Didn't this cause me some fun with users calling up saying that they were getting errors. A recursive chown fixed the problem and su'ing to the vpopmail user and running vpopbull seems to deliver with the right permissions, but I would expect the it to autmatically assign the right permissions or switch to the vpopmail user when run. Maybe this is a feature request more than anything, but I figured I would send this to the list so that someone else doesn't get caught out the same way. Shane

Re: [vchkpw] What if mysql was preinstalled?
Try doing : locate mysql_version.h or perhaps locate my_base.h The dir that contains these files would be the dir you plug into vpopmail's --enable-incdir Next you could try doing : locate libmysqlclient.a The dir that contains this file would be the dir you plug into vpopmail's --enable-libdir Michael. - Original Message - From: Don Walters [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, September 05, 2003 9:09 AM Subject: [vchkpw] What if mysql was preinstalled? Only change the cdb ( tcp.smtp.cdb ) file that qmail use with what you want. for example, if you start your qmail with something like tcpserver -x /usr/vpopmail/etc/etc.smtp.cdb change with tcpserver -x /usr/vpopmail/etc/working.smtp.cdb Matias Lambert OSInet Telecomunicaciones Capital Federal - Buenos Aires Argentina - CA1185ACA [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.osinet.com.ar I don't know what kind of weapons will be used in the third world war, assuming there will be a third world war.
