You also need to backup mysql if you use it :) and the assgin and virtual
host in qmail otherwise you have to install all the domains with the same
username and passwd and then copy over the users' info

Ciao,
Remo

My actual configuration is: qmail, vpopmail, qmailadmin, sqwebmail, isoqlog,
mrtg

It would be fine not to reinstall everything...

I need to migrate my old qmail installation on a Fedora Core 1 machine
 on a
 new CentOs machine.
It is possible to copy all data without reinstall (and configure)? How
 can I
 do?
 Thanks.
 Mik

Mik,

You want to install vpopmail as usual on the new machine. On the old
machine, backup ~vpopmail\domains and restore to the same place on the new
machine.

Sorry, hit wrong button...

No for the software side, depending on how you have your mail setup, courier
or pop3 depends on the mail itself. If it's pop3 you can move it just fine,
as long as you setup vpopmail the same as before. If your using courier,
you can use a program like imapsync (sourceforge) and sync the mail from
old server to new server fairly easly.

I'm sure with more info, and more planning on your part you can get this
done. Try to determine how your old server was setup, eg. vpopmail, using
mysql or cdb for the domains for 1, roaming encryption etc...

[vchkpw] simscan/vpopmail etc

2005-05-24 Thread Jimmy Stewpot
Hello,

I am currently running a fairly busy email server with around 30 domains
and several hundred high usage users sending and receiving email. I have
currently setup the system so that It is running without any virus
scanning. Its setup something like this

rblsmtpd -- qmail -- .qmail file (which then pipes to spamc) then
vpopmail delivers the email.

The whole system works fairly well however I would like to start using
virus scanning. I have been recommended simscan by people on the qmail
list. There are some questions that I have im hoping that people can answer.

Does simscan integrate perfectly with vpopmail. I cant see any reason
why it wouldnt but i would still like clarification on that.

Thanks

Jimmy.

Actually simscan has nothing to do with vpopmail, because simscan
operates at the smtp level. If it detects a virus or spam with a higher
score than that set by you it will reject the message. I'm currently
using simscan with clamav and spamassassin and have no problems.

I would assume that this, also, is safe across NFS, however, as I have not

Thanks a lot, but i managed to solve the question (even if i don't know
exactly how...)

I have set up a test server with a similar configuration and everything
worked fine, so i though the
problem was in upgrading vpopmail.
I removed vpopmail from server and installed from scratch. (same options
of course)

Now it works as expected that is without rebuilding tcp.smtp.cdb but
meantime updating mysql table.

However thanks a lot for the relpy.

Thanks a lot for links i'll take a look at them, for now i solved the
question, but new ways, possibly simpler or with more feature
are always welcomed ^_^
Ipvsd seems really quite interesting...
However the tcpserver patch add only a new option (-S) that checks sql
relay table, so i can use tcpserver normally.
I also start courier imap, clamd and spamassassin via tcpserver and i'm
really happy specially for log management :-)

Thanks a lot.

I had this problem recently, it was due to the fact
that I had used --enable-tcpserver-file=~vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp

that helps.

[vchkpw] should /home/vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp create tcp.smtp.cdb with qmailctl cdb

2002-09-29 Thread Matt Darcy

Hello all,

When running qmail (without vpopmail) you manage
the tcp connections from /etc/tcp.smtp.
When I issue a qmailctl tcp it build the file
/etc/tcp.smtp.cdb

Installing vpopmail should use
/home/vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp INSTEAD of /etc/tcp.smtp.

So, if I issue qmailctl cdb SHOULD it build
/home/vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp.cdb ??

At the moment I do not have and cannot creat a
/home/vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp.cdb.

I also have my laptop authorised to relay through
my server

10.11.216.11:allow,RELAYCLIENT=""

yet when 10.11.216.11 attempts to send out mail I
get an error through outlook (but I'll deal with that later)

Thanks,

Matt.

~vpopmail/etc

2001-11-28 Thread Mate Wierdl

I see that ./configure already uses ~vpopmail/etc by putting two
files, inc_deps and lib_deps there. Are these files necessary for the
proper functioning of vpopmail later or they are needed only during
the build?

The problem I am trying to solve is: I am trying to make an rpm, but
with as little impact on the build host as possible. In particular,
while I add the vpopmail user, but tried not to create ~vpopmail. But
then ./configure complains about the nonexistence of ~vpopmail/etc.

Can I just ignore this warning of ./configure, and then have inc_deps
and lib_deps created on the install host?

Thx,

Mate

~vpopmail/etc

2001-08-01 Thread Iceman

Hi,

I saw on www.inter7.com that ~vpopmail/etc/ should contain two files :
lib_deps and inc_deps. But on my system this directory is empty. And because
of this (I think), I can't compile qmailadmin because during the process gcc
can't find the librairies needed.

So my question is, what do I have to put in this directory ?

thanx a lot

Sounds like you have an older version of vpopmail
which didn't create those files.

For a mysql site you would need something like:

[kbo@gpl etc]$ more inc_deps
-I/home/vpopmail/include

[kbo@gpl etc]$ more lib_deps
-L/home/vpopmail/lib -lvpopmail -L/usr/lib/mysql -lmysqlclient -lz

Adjust the -L value to match your mysql settings.

If you are not using mysql remove the -L and -lmysqlclient -lz

According to the ChangeLog these files have been around since 4.9.7.
Are there many people who are running version older than 4.9.7?

This would simplify the build process for vpopmail.pm for people using current

Anybody have any thoughts on this?

PS: updated version (0.05) of vpopmail.pm on the way...RSN.

That is exactly with the inc_deps and lib_deps are there.
Glad they are becoming more useful. I'm sure there are
many sites running pre 4.9.7. You can always recommend
updating vpopmail when they use vpopmail.pm

/etc/tcp.smtp.cdb? or ~vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp.cdb?

2001-03-08 Thread ling

HI

What I really mean is :
Which file does vpopmail regenerate from ~vpopmail/etc/open-smtp?
/etc/tcp.smtp.cdb? or ~vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp.cdb?

Before I installed vpopmail,I used /etc/tcp.smtp.cdb in the SMTP setup script,
Should I change the script like this (from INSTALL):

tcpserver -H -R -x /path/to/vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp.cdb \
-c20 -u504 -g503 0 smtp \
/var/qmail/bin/qmail-smtpd 21 /dev/null

Nothing like consistent inconsistency, eh! :)

As long as all the relevant paths point to the same file, you should be
ok. I put mine in /home/vpopmail/etc directory, since it turned out to
be simpler, as the emphasis here was on vpopmail.

Dear All,

We are using vpopmail 4.9.6, recently. We

Why is this a problem? Are you trying to deny certain users from relaying?

Also, this is clearly a vchkpw issue, not a qmailadmin one. Please don't cross post, as those of us on both lists get your message twice.

Hi Michael,

We have almost 80 users using
the Fake Class IP address of 168.168.1.* . I think there is no need
to
open roaming for this group of user, since they are
locatedunder the same office envirnoment. Instead, just
keep an entry inside /etc/tcp.smtp should be
ok.

   Is it really a problem?
Do you even need to add it to /etc/tcp.smtp? If you have roaming users
on, you should not need to add it to the tcp.smtp. It is just more
trouble to keep up with what is in tcp.smtp and what is not. I would
just let roaming users keep up with it. I don't know if I am right here
or not, but I think that if the roaming users feature is enabled, it is going
to put every ip address into its database, regardless of what is already in
  tcp.smtp.
