Re: [vchkpw] Qmail, vpopmail etc. migration: from Fedora Core 1 to CentOs
Sorry, hit wrong button... No for the software side, depending on how you have your mail setup, courier or pop3 depends on the mail itself. If it's pop3 you can move it just fine, as long as you setup vpopmail the same as before. If your using courier, you can use a program like imapsync (sourceforge) and sync the mail from old server to new server fairly easly. I'm sure with more info, and more planning on your part you can get this done. Try to determine how your old server was setup, eg. vpopmail, using mysql or cdb for the domains for 1, roaming encryption etc... [vchkpw] roaming user relay problem, no relay in /home/vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp.cdb file
hi, i installed vpopmail with roaming user and with mysql support correctly. but i have a problem about relaying pop3 users.. when pop3 used remote ip address is added to relay table on mysql.. but i cant see ip address on cdb file.. i checked tcp.smtp.cdb file with cdbdump .. smtp run file like: exec /usr/local/bin/softlimit -m 200 \ /usr/local/bin/tcpserver -H -R -v -p -x /home/vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp.cdb \ -u $VPOPMAILUID -g 1010 0 smtp /var/qmail/bin/qmail-smtpd 21 and i changed qmail startup file too for right path of tcp.smtp.. -rw-r--r-- 1 vpopmail vchkpw26 Jan 8 11:53 tcp.smtp -rw-r--r-- 1 vpopmail vchkpw 2090 Jan 9 03:51 tcp.smtp.cdb thanks
[vchkpw] simscan/vpopmail etc
Hello, I am currently running a fairly busy email server with around 30 domains and several hundred high usage users sending and receiving email. I have currently setup the system so that It is running without any virus scanning. Its setup something like this rblsmtpd -- qmail -- .qmail file (which then pipes to spamc) then vpopmail delivers the email. The whole system works fairly well however I would like to start using virus scanning. I have been recommended simscan by people on the qmail list. There are some questions that I have im hoping that people can answer. Does simscan integrate perfectly with vpopmail. I cant see any reason why it wouldnt but i would still like clarification on that. Thanks Jimmy.

If it detects a virus or spam with a higher score than that set by you it will reject the message. I'm currently using simscan with clamav and spamassassin and have no problems. signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

I have set up a test server with a similar configuration and everything worked fine, so i though the problem was in upgrading vpopmail. I removed vpopmail from server and installed from scratch. (same options of course) Now it works as expected that is without rebuilding tcp.smtp.cdb but meantime updating mysql table. However thanks a lot for the relpy.

[vchkpw] New problem: unable to create ~vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp.xxxx file doesnot exist
Hi there: I was using cdb as my auth method but it seems to have a limit in the number of records it can handle. I decided to upgrade vpopmail using mysql as auth method. Everything seems to be working fine now except for the message shown in the subject line. I already checked files ownership. All files and directories belong to vpopmail.vchkpw and mode 600 Any help would be highly appreciated! Hugo
RE: [vchkpw] New problem: unable to create ~vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp.xxxx file does not exist
I had this problem recently, it was due to the fact that I had used --enable-tcpserver-file=~vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp on the configure script instead of the hard coded full path. Rebuild it with the full path and see if that helps. [vchkpw] should /home/vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp create tcp.smtp.cdb with qmailctl cdb
Hello all, When running qmail (without vpopmail) you manage the tcp connections from /etc/tcp.smtp. When I issue a qmailctl tcp it build the file /etc/tcp.smtp.cdb Installing vpopmail should use /home/vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp INSTEAD of /etc/tcp.smtp. So, if I issue qmailctl cdb SHOULD it build /home/vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp.cdb ?? At the moment I do not have and cannot creat a /home/vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp.cdb. I also have my laptop authorised to relay through my server 10.11.216.11:allow,RELAYCLIENT="" yet when 10.11.216.11 attempts to send out mail I get an error through outlook (but I'll deal with that later) Thanks, Matt.

~vpopmail/etc
I see that ./configure already uses ~vpopmail/etc by putting two files, inc_deps and lib_deps there. Are these files necessary for the proper functioning of vpopmail later or they are needed only during the build? The problem I am trying to solve is: I am trying to make an rpm, but with as little impact on the build host as possible. In particular, while I add the vpopmail user, but tried not to create ~vpopmail. But then ./configure complains about the nonexistence of ~vpopmail/etc. Can I just ignore this warning of ./configure, and then have inc_deps and lib_deps created on the install host? ~vpopmail/etc
Hi, I saw on www.inter7.com that ~vpopmail/etc/ should contain two files : lib_deps and inc_deps. But on my system this directory is empty. And because of this (I think), I can't compile qmailadmin because during the process gcc can't find the librairies needed. So my question is, what do I have to put in this directory ? thanx a lot Iceman

Title: Re: Clearopensmtp still adding roaming IP into ~vpopmail/etc/open-smtp Why is this a problem? Are you trying to deny certain users from relaying? Also, this is clearly a vchkpw issue, not a qmailadmin one. Please don't cross post, as those of us on both lists get your message twice. -Bill on 12/17/00 9:58 PM, Dino Ming at [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Dear All, We are using vpopmail 4.9.6, recently. Re: Clearopensmtp still adding roaming IP into ~vpopmail/etc/open-smtp
Hi Michael, We have almost 80 users using the Fake Class IP address of 168.168.1.* . I think there is no need to open roaming for this group of user, since they are locatedunder the same office envirnoment. Instead, just keep an entry inside /etc/tcp.smtp should be ok. Do you even need to add it to /etc/tcp.smtp? If you have roaming users on, you should not need to add it to the tcp.smtp. It is just more trouble to keep up with what is in tcp.smtp and what is not. I would just let roaming users keep up with it. I don't know if I am right here or not, but I think that if the roaming users feature is enabled, it is going to put every ip address into its database, regardless of what is already in tcp.smtp.
