Re: [Veritas-bu] Another frequency based scheduling question.
I think this is pretty clear cut - the backup will start at 0300 the next day, and subsequent days. This is why we usually set the frequency to something much less than the actual desired frequency, and only open the windows when required. If you had your freqency set to 12 hours. the next day's backup would run at 1900 as normal. Cheers James On 09/08/2012 11:29, Whelan, Patrick wrote: Backup window 1900 -- 0600, frequency 1 day. I have read Marianne's and Joseph's fine dissertations on Frequency based, but they do not, as far as I can see, address this question only if you have multiple schedules running on the same day, which I do understand. [Veritas-bu] Where is my IP hiding?
Hi All Am running a NetBackup 7.1 testbed on Windows. VMware has decided it's time to change my IP address so I have updated the hosts file on the master server. NetBackup now absolutely refuses to work after several reboots. I can ping my master server by name, and forward and reverse lookups go to the correct IP address. It seems that problem is that any EMM type commands still have the old IP somewhere, and I'm getting status 334 (EMM Initialization Failed) when I run pretty much anything. When I run netstat -a I see several SYN_SENT connections to the old IP (pbx port) that is no longer relevant. I've had a quick look through the NBU parts of the Registry but can't find anything. Where is this IP coming from? I'm pretty sure it's not the highly annoying new netbackup IP cache as I have rebooted several times. [Veritas-bu] BMR - TFTP DHCP
Hi All Been playing with BMR on Solaris Windows, and both seem to work impressively well. My issue is with the PXE booting on the Windows side - it works, but I have no idea how it's working. I have a UNIX DHCP server on my network, that's handing out IP addresses, but not TFTP server information. How is my newly-booted client getting the address of the TFTP server? I am trying to understand this to be able to turn around to my customer and tell that what the procedure will be in *their* network. Re: [Veritas-bu] bpgp ?
David, In my experience you can push out from the master to upgrade a client even if there's no remote shell access, as long as you have some version of NBU installed. It uses the bpcd connection only, and then probably tar to write the new files out. Worth a try on a couple of test servers perhaps? James Clooney, David wrote: Thanks for that Ed Pushing out from the master would be ideal, however remote shell is a def no no in this environment. I certainly don't have logins to all the servers for Ftp_to client either. In a fix I'm afraid, like you idea of a template though. Regards Dave I do have to ask though, why don't you just push out the upgrade from the master? Push outs work very well to Unix boxes... No work required at all from the admins (so they can't screw it up). .../Ed -- Ed Wilts, Mounds View, MN, USA mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Notice to recipient: The information in this internet e-mail and any attachments is confidential and may be privileged. Re: [Veritas-bu] NB 5.0 MP6 Available
Ed, It's broken in 6.0, 5.1 MP4 and now it seems 5.0 MP6 too. I opened a case and have been impressed so far - have been offered an engineering binary and a fix for 5.1 MP5. As this is technically an undocumented command Symantec could have easily said it wasn't supported and tough luck! [Veritas-bu] bpcoverage // NBU 6.0
All, Shame to see that bpcoverage does NOT work on 6.0. It segfaults on Linux and DrWatsons on Windows. This is a very useful command but unfortunately it's not supported since it's not in the manual. Just thought I'd let you know. It might be worth mentioning this to your Veritas guys if you had found bpcoverage useful in the past for checking connectivity to clients.
