Re: [Veritas-bu] Backing up MSSQL2008
Hi Steve In that case, just configure a SQL Job to backup the files to disk, and then do a file level backup to tape for the .bak / .trn file(s). I realise that this version of SQL is not officially supported by Symantec till v6.5.3 but unfortunately I am not in a position to upgrade my current environment (running v5.1MP7) till early next year. Therefore has anyone managed to backup and restore a MSSQL2008 environment using the DB agent running NetBackup 5.1? If so; are there any gotcha's I should be aware of? Re: [Veritas-bu] Backing up MSSQL2008
That’s an option and one that I’ve suggested but the customer was hoping for a ‘hot’ backup solution. I am going to try it and see what happens though I am not hopeful of it being successful. _ From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 03 November 2008 18:01 To: Jenner, Steven Cc: Veritas-bu@mailman.eng.auburn.edu; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [Veritas-bu] Backing up MSSQL2008 Even if this worked, I wouldn't trust it on something as serious as a database. Until you can upgrade, would you be able to dump the database to a flat file on disk with a Maintenance Job or some third party SQL backup app (Litespeed, etc.) and then have NBU pick up the dump as a normal file?
