Re: License Agreement --- Only 1 install???

2008-11-17 Thread Jeff

I absolutely agree. I rotate between 2 machines, only working on
one at a time. I'll purchase one license for myself, for my laptop,
but I refuse to purchase a second license for the two or three times
a week I need to use my desktop machine.

This is disappointing. I was expecting to purchase multiple user
licenses for my company when Versions was released. Instead,
I'm going to recommend that we standardize on a different
package instead. I can't justify 2-3x the cost per developer.

Best of luck, it's a great product - but understand that you're going
to lose a lot of potential licenses by trying to force people to
but multiple licenses.

License not working, support form failing

2008-11-17 Thread Jeff

I purchased a single license, received it via email, and attempted to
install it. It doesn't work - I'm getting an "Invalid machine ID"
error when I try and register.

Anyone else see this? I suspect that the servers may just be
overwhelmed...

Re: License not working, support form failing

2008-11-17 Thread Jeff

Hi Koen,

Unfortunately, it still fails.

"Invalid machine ID 02=DEE1e"

Any help would be appreciated. If you think it's still related to the
servers being overloaded, I can wait another day or so.

Thanks
Jeff

Re: License not working, support form failing

2008-11-17 Thread Jeff

Something interesting I noticed. I registered my license under my home
email address. Versions seems to want to pre-populate the dialog with
my work email address instead. Everytime I go into the dialog to try
and resubmit, I have to change my email address back to my home
address before clicking submit (my name and license key are retained
properly).

Could it possibly be that it's using the wrong email address for a
checksum?

If not, other hints would be appreciated.

Re: Product Activation? Ugh.

2008-11-17 Thread Jeff

Bump for this, well-stated.

It's a shame that companies feel they have to do this: it
inconveniences paying users, and is a minor obstacle at best for
anyone that really wants to steal the software.

I've been burned a few times in the past, and I'm pretty disappointed
to find that they've locked Versions down this tight. My current
situation is a perfect example: I bought a license 6 hours ago, and it
fails to validate on their server. I'm sure they'll eventually fix it
(they seem like a decent folks) but in the meantime, I'm spending time
posting on this forum, trying permutations of license details etc. in
an attempt to get it working. Basically, I'm wasting _my_ time as a
paying customer, trying to get around a broken license mechanism.

Feedback form on Web site is broken

2008-11-19 Thread Jeff

Hi Sofa,

The feedback form on versionsapp.com is broken, one gets an error when
submitting. I wanted to send a feature request:

I'd like the ability to search in the timeline. Often when I'm
composing a commit message I want to make sure I use consistent
language with what's gone before, so I do a search or two (in WebSVN
at present) to see what I previously wrote. Being able to do this in
Versions would mean a slicker workflow!

Thanks & regards,

Jeff

Column for modified date in working copy

2008-11-24 Thread Jeff

Would it be possible to have a column in the Browse view to show the
modification time of files in the working copy, please? I sometimes
have a variety of changes on the go at the same time, not all of which
I want to check in at once. Being able to see which files I have just
been working on is a useful check to make sure I have selected the
right ones for check-in. The choice of columns at the moment seems to
lean towards browsing the repository rather than the working copy.

Thanks,

Jeff

Re: quick compare like cornerstone?

2008-11-24 Thread Jeff

+1 for using TextWrangler. Having an external diff tool means I can
run it from within Xcode whilst I'm writing or Versions whilst I'm
preparing to check-in, and get the same view working in the same way.

Slightly offtopic: moving repos to another server

2008-11-20 Thread Jeff h

Hi,

I have moved my repositories from an old server to a new one, using
svnadmin dump and svnadmin load. This worked fine.

I then went into Versions and changed each Repository Bookmark
location to reflect the new server's URL. Again no problems.

However, the working copies that are under these Repo Bookmarks are
still "connected" with the repo's on the old server, not the new ones
— how do I update my existing working copies to talk to the new
server?

I guess I could delete my working copy folders in the finder and re-
check them out from the new server. However, these are websites, and I
will have to do the same on the "working copies" on the live servers.
In that scenario I'd much rather not go deleting live files and
rechecking out.

Thanks :)

Hi, thanks — that did the trick (with the --relocate flag).

Let's make this thread a subversive way of asking (yet again!) for
switching in Versions :)

Connecting to local repository from Windows virtual machine

2009-04-07 Thread Jeff H

Is it possible to connect to a local repository created in Versions
(on my Mac drive) from a Windows virtual machine (VMWare Fusion)? If
so, how? I do my development from Visual Studio and would like to just
connect using AnkhSVN/Tortoise. My goal is to have the master code
repository on the actual Mac drive and just have "local" copies on the
virtual drive (some project types in Visual Studio require local
source code copies for debugging).

Re: Connecting to local repository from Windows virtual machine

2009-04-14 Thread Jeff H

Thanks for the help, Quinn! This got me a lot further. FYI, I had to
change the "www" to "_www" in the chown Terminal command--apparently,
that's the apache username. To get things working completely, I also
had to add the following line to /etc/apache2/httpd.conf:

LoadModule dav_svn_module /opt/subversion/lib/svn-apache/
mod_dav_svn.so

Versions no longer launches...

2009-09-10 Thread Jeff Pinkston

... I had no previous problems running versions until I restarted my
computer today (OSX 10.5.8). When I did I started receiving 'Oops,
Versions hit a bumb in the road! Versions has envountered a problem.
Please send us the anonymous crash report to help us fix the problem.'
and I can no longer use the application. I tried reinstalling and
received the same error when I ran from downloads folder. I moved it
to the Application folder and was able to launch it once to update to
latest version, but when it tried to relaunch after updating I receive
the same error and can no longer use Versions. Any help/advice would
be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
