[VFB] Update on Amanda
Well according to Amanda about her surgery Friday, "It went well, Eh, I'm really sleepy and a little nauseous. Sore as all Get out but good. They got everything out and it looks clear I think. I have another appointment to go over the lab results in a couple of weeks. I had one incision in my belly button, another lower and they went in where I had the appendix surgery long ago.". Those are quotes from text messages from her over the last 3 days. Her mom and I are finally breathing normal, (have been holding our breath off and on since thanksgiving), because she said that apparently she is cancer free now. However, we still have to wait for the labs and then we have a couple more questions for her. I have 2 days at the VA this week for my surgical procedures so Theresa and I will hold back anything we can after that so we can try to keep a reserve ready in case we have to make a flying trip down to see her. Theresa and myself, on behalf of Amanda and ourselves want to thank everyone for the prayers for her. God has worked through experienced hands and the initial prognosis at this time is good. We will endeavor to keep everyone posted on her progress, and again, thank you everyone for your prayers and other help through this time. [VFB] Update on Amanda
I apologize for not giving any updates on Amanda as of late. Theresa and I know only as much as we did since the last post I sent. We do know that on April 20th she will have an endoscopic surgery, hope I got that right, and she has informed us that we are not "allowed" to be there for it. We will be "Told" when we can visit her afterwards. She has informed us that Know One is allowed to be there for the surgery, it is her "Choice" and "Burden". Whatever that means. We are juggling a few things so as to be able to go when we are "Allowed", and do it around my own surgeries, (Shoulder procedure the 4th and lower back procedure the 25th). So please, keep her in your prayers, not only for healing and recovery, but that she will get over this denial/ depression so as to open up and tell us what is going on and what the doctor says and does. I have done my best to get her information about options and support, only to have it pushed back that she will "Handel it on her own". Theresa and Jimi: As the father of five kids and four grandkids, I cannot begin to imagine what you must be going through. And I was keep you ALL in my thoughts and prayers, and especially your daughter. As for Amanda, I know you want to know everything, and try to help in anyway you can, but as hard as it may be, you may just have to let her come to terms with it, and then she'll open up to you I'm sure. I may be totally wrong, but that's what it sounds like to me that she is going through right now. I cannot imagine what Amanda must be going through, having a doc tell you this and at that age to boot. I'm sure her mind is spinning a million miles an hour, and she is probably going through one of the five stages of grief, and that being "denial". Ppl think "if I don't think or talk about it, it will go away". And while I know every minute, hour, and day counts towards getting her the best care possible, I'm afraid you're going to let her get through this "denial" stage on her own, and unfortunately, in her own time. I'm saying these things as an "outsider looking in" and can see things like this probably clearer than you can right now, and I know that must make is a thousand times harder on you guys as well. I did, however, have a "quarter sized spot " on my left lung about 20 years ago that my doc at the time was sure was cancer, and God healed it just like that, am I'll be praying that he'll doo the same for your daughter. Or, that he'll allow the docs to use their knowledge that HE gave them, to find a cure and have it happen that way. There is a caring bunch of ppl on this list and I can tell you that many prayers will be going up on behalf of the whole family as I said, but especially for Amanda. For me, many late nights and early mornings spent researching and downloading information, reading it, and printing a bunch of it out to put into note books so I am not tied to the computer all the time and I can go out to the medicine wheel garden we are making for quiet and solitude. Best I can do now. Theresa was heading down there to see her yesterday, but got shut down and turned back because Amanda said she did not have time to talk to her mom, or me right now. She says she is busy studying for the MCAT test and doesn't have time for US right now. Theresa was heeding down there today and again, curt, don't bother me texts turned her around again. She has "Promised to come down Thursday and go back Sunday, so we put some money in her account for her travel. One thing that really has us concerned is that "She doesn't like to drive or make road trips anymore", For anyone that knows her, she used to love to travel, there was no distance to far for her and her friends to go. This is beyond a 180, it is totally out of character for her and has her mom and me not only concerned, but incredibly worried. We do know that she had to get "All New Clothes", she went from a size 5/6 to a 1/0 between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Needless to say, that was a shock to us at Christmas, so she had to tell us a bit, "There is a possibility" was all she would say. I am going to turn it over to Theresa and let her fill you in on what she knows. She tells me, but for some reason I am having a hard time comprehending what has happened, and the only way I adjust to it is to find something to try and keep my hands and mind busy. Theresa cries a lot, I tend to hold it in until I cant anymore and have to go to the north side of the property so I can ell a bit and cry it out. A dad should never have the opportunity to outlive his daughter. I haven't given up, but it is hard for me when I don't have answers to needed questions. She says mom it's not as bad as everyone thinks.the docs aren't concerned about the spots on the liver and the brain.I am going to have surgery and I will let you know when I am going to the doc next.Of course I was caught off guard with this and I didn't ask her what the surgery was going to be on. so we continued texting and all and I I said Amanda can you put me on your hippa so I will no what's going onshe in no uncertain terms said she doesn't want me on itok..What am I to think?
