Gary: Thanks a lot. You know. he's still hanging on, even though his heart has stopped SEVERAL times. His doc says that he must have a VERY strong will to live, cause he says he should NOT have made it through the day yesterday. And he is a fighter for sure, especially for his family. His B/P will get down to about 20/20 (YES, that's his BP, not his eyesight) and his heart beat will drop to 11 BPM. Then, the family comes in and starts talking to him (even though Carlis is in a coma), and his BP will go up to about 70/50, and his heart rate will go to about 30 BPM, which the docs say it should be in the medically induced coma state they have him in, because every time he started waking up, it scared him, and he tried to pull his NG tube out. I just pray that he makes it, because it will be the world's loss if he don't because he is the best friend, husband, daddy, grand daddy, brother, etc that anybody could ask for. Their name are Jane and Carlis Ivey. And what happened was, just a month ago, Jane found out she had colon cancer. They operated, and took out part of her colon and she was to start chemo this Monday. But Carlis had been real short of breath and coughing REAL bad. They thought he had the flu real bad, so his brother, who lived next door, took him to the ER day before yesterday morning as Jane had the grand kids with her cause they had spent the night. Anyway, they ran test, and found out that Carlis has pneumonia, and also had had a heart attack and needed immediate quadruple bypass surgery, even though he had the pneumonia. Anyway, they did the bypass surgery today, and when they restarted his heart the docs were shocked to find out that his heart was just as weak as before the by passes. Then, the docs came out and told the family we don't think he's going to live cause of the damage to his heart from the heart attack, the pneumonia, and now the shock to his system from the surgery. Then, just a little while ago, maybe two hours ago, his heart stopped and they had to shock him back to life. But it's not looking good, and now it looks like Jane will have to postpone her chemo. Maybe if his heart had been strong enough to wait till they cured the pneumonia, things would have been completely different. These ppl are the salt of the earth and would do anything for anybody, or give anybody the shirt off their backs. Thanks, Chuck BTW. Tony: I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers for sure. I also have a prayer request of my own. We have a cpl who's daughter went to school with our daughter and Billie and I have been best of friends with the cpl for years and years. Their name are Jane and Carlis Ivey. And what happened was, just a month ago, Jane found out she had colon cancer. They operated, and took out part of her colon and she was to start chemo this Monday. But Carlis had been real short of breath and coughing REAL bad. They thought he had the flu real bad, so his brother, who lived next door, took him to the ER day before yesterday morning as Jane had the grand kids with her cause they had spent the night. Anyway, they ran test, and found out that Carlis has pneumonia, and also had had a heart attack and needed immediate quadruple bypass surgery, even though he had the pneumonia. Anyway, they did the bypass surgery today, and when they restarted his heart the docs were shocked to find out that his heart was just as weak as before the by passes. Then, the docs came out and told the family we don't think he's going to live cause of the damage to his heart from the heart attack, the pneumonia, and now the shock to his system from the surgery. Then, just a little while ago, maybe two hours ago, his heart stopped and they had to shock him back to life. But it's not looking good, and now it looks like Jane will have to postpone her chemo. Maybe if his heart had been strong enough to wait till they cured the pneumonia, things would have been completely different. These ppl are the salt of the earth and would do anything for anybody, or give anybody the shirt off their backs. Thanks, Chuck BTW. I have had a bad run, apart from chemo they found a large blood clot on both lungs so I am on blood thinners for that and white cell count was down so on jabs for that. At the moment I feel really good and wont have chemo for 2 weeks so will hopefully get to do some fishing. I have also had a second opinion on my cancer and treatment from a leading hospital and they seem to think my oncologist is doing everything right and the tumor is shrinking so although it is not curable they might be keeping me alive for a bit longer yet. It was a cool and rainy spring with a lot of late snow in the high country (all at over 200% of normal snow--pack), so all of that still has to come down, and it will when it does... Driving past the Bighorn Mountains by Sheridan WY yesterday afternoon we could see back to the 2nd range and they were still white with snow like mid-winter, and they should be pretty much clear by now. Not a good forecast for flooding. But the drive was simply gorgeous, with the foot-hill green and wildflowers srarting to bloom. Postcard-stuff. The peak portion of the Going to the Sun road in Glacier National Park is still closed due to snow and plowing, plus the danger of avalanches. This is June, when they normally have it open. The VFB came to Jody's aid when she was fighting cncer, i.e. Jody's Rainbow Angels and Steve from a severe brain injury. Both have fully recovered and I know without a doubt that the VFB's prayers played a huge part in both their recovery. Brian, Started this earlier and just now got back to finishing it. I am glad you are feeling good and hope you can get in some fishing. If you were here I would take you out on the lake, as the big bows are cruising the deep drop-offs and eating big zonkers and buggers. Calm, easy fishing, nice and slow as she goes. All the rivers are bloated, but the lake is still nice. I told my doctor once I wanted a 2nd opinion and he said I was crazy, too. He put me on meds for it and it was soon after that I met Buggs. Those of you who read my book will remember Steve as the stay-at-home-Dad. Valerie was walking down the parking lot to the grocery, when a lady hit her from behind. Val had been bent down to pick up her cellphone that she dropped, when the lady's son dropped his sippy cup and she reached back to retrieve it. Wham! Valerie literally got 'rear-ended' Val's friend Karen tried to push Val away and ended up breaking her middle finger. Thank God it wasn't lunch hour for the lot would have been full of people going into the pizza parlor, right next to the grocery. The upshot is that valerie's right leg is a mess from ankle to knee. all kinds of pins and rods, one rod even on the exterior of her leg. She'll recover, but it'll be at least three months before she'll be able to get around again. The VFB came to Jody's aid when she was fighting cncer, i.e. Jody's Rainbow Angels and Steve from a severe brain injury. Both have fully recovered and I know without a doubt that the VFB's prayers played a huge part in both their recovery. My two best boyhood friends and their sister could really use any and all prayers that can get. Below is a summary, by Mike about his brother Jim, himself and sister Ann. Just one of these happenings would be a Wallop, but all three happening within a week of each other is almost too much to bear. Jim is 71, Mike 69 and Ann 65. Thank You, and Merry Christmas to all. JIMMY D. Jimmy D. Just thought youwould want o know, Jim had 4 by-pass operations about 3 weeks ago. His breathing and movement are still slow. A week later, I passed out, result of a seizure. I spent 5 days in hos, came out, went to a heart DOC. spent two days, then 3 days later, had an areterigram.I had a stint put in one of my arteries, one was too blocked. the other has an ? in each leg. Hopefully, they can clean thore in 6 months. Our sister, ann is in the hospital, hopefully with something minor. All these things happened within a week of each other.
