Roxanne said There is also this amazing HERO camera, that Rambo taught me about: $129; no sound, but pretty decent picture! We used it for BW 642 out on an outrigger canoe ride: It does have sound Rox, actually it has a Hi and Low setting in the menu. In some of my on water vids, I show underwater footage when I Huli or flip the canoe over. Some of it is quite comical as I thrash around trying to remount. I just finished shooting Hamilton Island Cup Outrigger race with 12 Point Of View cameras modified with delay timers and radio control, 24 hours of footage to edit what a head ache. The Hero will be available soon with a wide angle lens. The picture quality of this cam is quite good if you remove digital noise and sharpen in VirtualDub using Neat Noise plug-in. My bad. I have not actually used it myself - Secret Cameraman has! Thank you for the correction - and I recommend Rambo's video - no one else is getting out on the water (literally) like he is, up close and personal. Gabriel is a brit who lives in Barzil. he's been coding LiVES for the past several years. it's video editing software for Linux. anyone on Linux can try it out now. He's trying to get to 1.0, but needs some financial support ($4500). http://lives.sourceforge.net/livesfund.html see details below. be great to have a free and open software video editor that worked well. Jay Hi all, I have just launched the LiVES fundraising drive for the 1.0 release. The aim is to raise sufficient funds to cover the following: - development work for the 1.0 release (mixing of foreground and background generators from the keyboard, instant opening of some video types, multiple audio channels and mixing of audio). - production of a complete user manual for LiVES - new artwork for LiVES 1.0 - a 6 part videoblog with LiVES tips, development, and other interesting features for more details, please see: http://lives.sourceforge.net/livesfund.html Thank you for your attention ! You´re right about the value for money, I would just like two more things: a threaded lens (so I could use a cheap wide angle adapter), and an acessorie shoe (so I could use a rode videomic, the mic in is in the camera). What could you recomend with those features? Also, when there is no audio out for headphones, is there a way to use the A/V out? Anyone tried that? Miguel.
[videoblogging] Making money Real Estate Videos and Jobs
Made a few bucks doing an experimental real estate video recently with a friend who's an agent. We came up with a 3-minute format, that ends with NOT being able to get inside the house, so you've got to call him. His company (Coldwell Banker) liked it. I'm thinking if I have to make a few bucks I can pitch this at $400 a video or higher, and perhaps higher even if I agree to get paid only when a property sells. This first took almost two work days. Lapel mic, sun roof, one revision with agent. It would get quicker. http://plocktau.com/temp/SteveLipkin_16CliffordSt/ I'm still looking for work in the Burlington, and now Brattleboro, VT areas, including Amherst/N. Hampton areas if anyone knows any university staff or teaching jobs around video blogging, let me know! Here's one at Smith College: http://burlington.craigslist.org/web/718322598.html

[videoblogging] Things are changing for real.....(?)
Im pretty surprised by the sequence of events. A year ago, some bloggers in the P2P world started complaining because it seemed that Comcast was blocking bit torrent traffic. The web communities started discussing it, testing the hypothesis, and proved it to be true. I remember we had some hot and heavy debates about Comcast's actions. http://www.wired.com/politics/onlinerights/news/2008/07/portfolio_0711 The sanctions would be the first time the commission has come down on an internet provider for denying consumers the right to open, unfettered internet access. It may set a precedent on how the federal government oversees management of internet traffic flows in the future. Honestly, i thought Comcast would get away with iteven make it into a new policy banning bit torrent universally. Isn't bit torrent just used for pirated material? Bit torrent users are like drug dealers, right? But it seems that everyone from all across the spectrum understand that companies cannot pick and choose what goes over the networks. There must be neutrality and transparency. In fact, this whole incident has been a great example of why we need Net Neutrality legislation...whereas before it was just abstract discussions. the FCC ruling on Comcast is not a done deal, but I'm amazed it even got this far. maybe web communities really are progressing and becoming a powerful force in how things are done (at least in the USA).
