June 24-27 at UMass Amherst To: Videoblogging videoblogging@yahoogroups.com Date: Wednesday, December 17, 2008, 8:12 AM Hi, Are people interested in having a Vloggercon in 2009? I've got an idea. A Mashup of Conferences? June 24-27 at UMass Amherst Bill Densmore out at UMass has reserved the campus for June 24-27 for a conference. 'A Mashup of Conferences' We were talking about calling it something like 'A Mashup of Conferences' and inviting lots of people to co-host their conferences there that weekend. In 2006 he ran Media Giraffe conference on journalism, MGP2006. TOPICS and GROUPS I'd already thought of the possibility of having a Podcamp Amherst out there. He's going to corral the media and education people. What do you think about getting a bunch of Social Media people to join in? I'd help in getting multi media/video production people... Kind of like a pirate ship conference. In addition to social media, video, podcasting I was also thinking about Etsy crafts people, moped riders, and photographers, like that... a wide range... Also, it'd be fun to schedule hikes and social events around it too. LOGISTICS COSTS Ballpark cost estimates are: Meeting rooms: $6K A/V: $2K UMASS has tons of free WiFi LODGING Dorms would be available too for a very reasonable rate as well as hte Campus Center Hotel. Campus Center Hotel FOOD Food would be available at campus center for people to buy. TRAVEL Traveling to UMass BTW, AMTRAK runs to Amherst DC - NY - HARTFORD - AMHERST - MONTREAL LOOKING FOR IDEAS I'm looking for what your ideas on this might be... Re: [videoblogging] ISP's becoming the enforcement arm of the RIAA?
The way the new enforcement system will work is that the RIAA will alert an ISP that a customer appears to be file sharing. The ISP will then notify the person that he or she appears to be file sharing. If the behavior by the customer doesn't change, then more e-mails will be sent. If the customer ignores these e-mails, then the ISP may choose to reduce service. If all else fails, they can choose to discontinue service. This is definitely a weird twist. why would an ISP choose to kick off its users, lose subscription money, and pay for the cost of policing copyrights that it doesnt own? Here's a good story about his issue: http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-10127841-93.html?tag=txt Im glad you're keeping on this story Heath. Its important for us to make sure our ISP's remain neutral. Im looking onto switching to a locally run Wireless Servicemainly because I met the guy that owns it and he returns my emails. Jay -- http://jaydedman.com 917 371 6790

Re: [videoblogging] exporting HD clip
Hi Jay and all, about Canon 5d mark II i found some info and tutorials about it on vimeo, they are from Peter Salvia - http://vimeo.com/petersalvia Final Cut Prose Episode 2 - Editing Canon EOS 5D Mark II Footage http://vimeo.com/1829823 there is also another one very interesting here: Canon EOS5DmkII, One night in Beijing from Dan Chung http://vimeo.com/2327058 i found it interesting also and it seems that next year will be a good year for videos on digital reflex machines (DSLR). I have also high hopes on the new format Micro 4/3... read more about it here: On the other hand...from Stu Maschwitz the author of the DV Rebel's Guide http://prolost.blogspot.com/2008/11/on-other-hand.html Enjoy the reading and 2009 has to be a crazy year for video. for now i give you 3 reasons for that: 1) all these new HD video DSLR; 2) all the better, smaller and cheaper (and popular) AVCHD cameras; 3) and specially for the Mac, we can only imagine what the new GPU with Snow Leopard will do for video in terms of speeding up all the rendering and editing... I wish everyone a happy holidays and a happy new year 2009! Re: [videoblogging] PC webcam software out of sync.
Sorry, thought I was clear. I have a Toshiba PC laptop. (I also have a Mac I use predominantly, but I need a PC for testing web design and new media work.) What I wanted to see is whether I could use the webcam on the PC laptop to make faster videos for a videoblogging series. I can¹t with out of sync capture. And I will want to edit it so I want decent quality. I will investigate Skype and maybe some other stuff. [videoblogging] What am I missing?
I used to be a big fan of video blogs/vlogs/web shows (whatever you which to call it). I had some sites I would visit on a regular basis. This is no longer true. Can people recommend new video blogs/vlogs/web shows that I can check out during the holidays? Anything entertaining and fun. Thanks! Terry Ann

You could start by browsing the list of people I watch (when I get time, which I don't at the moment). There are a few missing, but you might find a few that would pass you by otherwise.
