[videoblogging] Re: Best Editing software for cutting out words?

2009-08-26 Thread ratbagradio
Obviously what you do works extremely well so why fiddle with it?

Forget about the umms and errs and simply leave them in . And strive for a
greater focus. If you umm or err -- what are you looking for during the umm?
The next point? The next word? You obviously know your stuff.

If there is a hesitancy deal with that there rather than with the edit. I
always find inasmuch as I have any feel for it -- when the umm sets in I'm
looking for audience approval as I've lost it in real time or in my mind. I've
lost them in my head rather than trying to communicate with some other human
being.

In your case, here's a suggestion, pick out a generic comment-or and direct
your words to that person or stereotype.

Also you've obviously got the character -- as per the banner header -- so play
up to that a few notches and I reckon the umms will go.Even look at that for
character inspiration

Nothing builds confidence and loquaciousness than being someone else.(I used to
do theatre with psychiatric patients and young children and it is a truism that
being someone else builds confidence in a snap. )

What improv teaches you is how to bridge from A to B with transitional fill and
cues. I do a bit of public speaking and that format is a restricted time limit
so you have to rehearse in your head the argument you have to deliver from a
few dot points often on paper.(I do however now use Mindmaps everytime)

So if you have 4 minutes to deliver a point well what is the fastest way to get
through A, B and C? And there in row two is someone nodding off and over on the
left is another picking their nosebut that's' the response that you rely on
-- the laughter too when you can get it.

Absent unfortunately from video...

When you do it cold through a sterile lens you can't be a Marlon Brando and
drown in an artificial character -- you have to speak to someone the same way
that they do it -- since you're an Australian -- on Playschool.

I used to write a weekly newspaper column and could happily proceed to write it
if I had just two ideas to rub together as an excuse to begin to write. But it
still took me two hours to write it!

But you know your stuff and it's surely formatted in your head before you open
your mouth. Really what you need is an audience -- someone imaginary to talk
to. And honestly Dave you are so good at your delivery the hesitancies are so
far a secondary issue. Just imagine a person you are talking to FOR REAL and I
reckon the hesitancies will disappear..

You are too good, and you videoblog is too inspiring, to worry about these
side issues.

To deliver -- such as # 27 -- a 10 minute monologue 'off the cuff' is a huge
ask for anyone. If you think you are caught why not chop it up into chapters
and pace yourself by taking a breather between chapters.

Have a sip of water. Look down at the ground. Crank up the camera ---then in
the edit fade in and out between segments.

OR slow down. When you are on stage, at the lectern or in shot -- time races
and you don't recognise that you can afford to slow down even pause between
points as you collect and arrange your thoughts. You don't have to fill every
moment with talk. And in the silence you arrange your next few points.

Slowing down also enables you to undercut hypo-ventilation which promotes
shallow breathing and when you hypo-ventilate you can become confused and often
lose control over the order of your presentation.

Anyway:There's too much passion in your videoblog for a few umms and errs to
matter one iota.

Ride the tiger...

Dave has given lots of good suggestions. But on a PC, Premiere

i used the waterproof Xacti when I went in 2007. The waterproof system
seemed to help keep the dust out. If you have a bigger rig, good luck.
Not sure how to keep the dust out.

Arin Crumley is at Burning Man to get more video for some kind of

For these specific questions about blip, I would email them directly:
"Blip.tv Support"
The only show Ive heard being on Tivo through blip is Rocketboom.com,
a pretty heavy-duty video site.

[videoblogging] Mobile Videoblogging on 12Seconds.tv

2009-08-26 Thread Rupert Howe
I've been really getting into 12 Seconds over the last few days.
Shooting & posting little daily moments that until now, have either
gone uncaptured or have sat on a hard drive, forgotten and unusable.

I always thought 12seconds was just a Talking-To-Your-Webcam-Video-
Twitter thing. But then last week, I saw some posts by Kath @aliak
and Susan @kitykity of mobile moments, and it inspired me.

There are lots of simple moments that I capture (or think about
capturing) on my phone that haven't seemed substantial enough by
themselves to make me want to post them to my blog. I still want to
share them, but I don't - for fear that a mass of little throwaway
things will drown out the things I've spent more time on, because of
the chronological format of the blog.

But actually, this kind of instant mobile videoblogging was really
what I started Twittervlog for - shooting little things that catch my
eye, using my phone, and sending them immediately to the web and to
Twitter.

So now I'm shooting and emailing to 12seconds straight from my Nokia
N82 (either by wifi or 3G phone signal).

And I have embedded a 12 seconds player in the sidebar of
Twittervlog. So that the 12seconds clips are accessible from the
vlog, but aren't superseding the other videos.

Every 12seconds user gets their own RSS feed with MP4 and FLV files -
so theoretically you could include your 12seconds videos in your blog
feed (or easily add them to your Feedburner feed). I might do that.

There's an iPhone app, and it integrates with Qik. You can upload
from the site, or by email. Or use your webcam.

The 12 seconds limit is also quite a good discipline. And you know
that whatever you watch there won't be wasting your time!

I recommend checking it out. My channel is at:

I agree, I've started to use 12seconds.tv again (left it for a long time)
since I got the new iphizzle 3gs last week and have been loving the service.
Plus, the site is built in Santa Cruz, my college alma matter:)

My page is here:

As my new video capabilities on my phone are new to me, I feel like a kid in
a candyshop. 12seconds helps me play with my sweet new addiction.

[videoblogging] Blip to YouTube X Posting

2009-08-26 Thread Rambos Locker
Blip have a service where you can enable cross posting of your videos
directly to YouTube. Problem is when you request activation they refuse??
What do you have to do to be enabled, they don't say? I'm at a loss to
understand why they promote this service then decline.
Anyone know?

Cheers Rambo

I think, to be fair, judging by the recent faffing Blip.tv have done,
Youtube cross posting et al, may only be available for Pro customers,
which I suppose is only fair, they have to make their money some how.
It would be great though to just upload a video once, but this has
never been the case.

I think Paul may be correct that this may be a Blip pro feature. Could be wrong.

Not to sound like a borken record, but specific blip issues should go
to . They're pretty good at getting back to people in
a timely manner.

Re: [videoblogging] Blip to YouTube X Posting

2009-08-26 Thread Michael Verdi
Here's what it says on the blip page (from my basic account):

Distribution to YouTube through blip.tv requires approval from the
blip.tv content team. This is to ensure that we send only the best
independently produced shows to YouTube under our partnership. If you
are not approved for distribution through blip.tv you can continue to
upload to YouTube directly through their system.

Please click the "Apply for YouTube" button to begin the approval
process. Once your show is approved you'll be presented with an option
to link your blip.tv and YouTube accounts to begin distribution.

It's not listed under Pro Acct though and no reason is given for the
refusal.
Don't get me wrong I love the Blip service and have been a "happy
camper" since 2007.

So are you saying they sell the upload to YouTube?
