[videoblogging] Best Video Sitemap Tool
Hi Gang, I need to start producing larger quantities of video sitemaps for clients and want a tool or process that will make the process quick and easy. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks so much! p.s. Anyone drooling over the new full HD 60fps Sanyo Xacti VPS-CS1 for $299? I am. I'm thinking it is my next camera but I'm terribly sad they didn't put an external mic on it. Instead we have "Sound zoom". [videoblogging] Re: Wireless Microphone
Richard, B&H used to be the best when it came to customer service. I live in NYC and my last trip to the physical store location yielded in losing trust in this store. I even asked for the manager and he never came to hear my concerns, they sent a security guard to tackle the issue. And you know what was the issue? They did not let me into the store because I had my folding bike (Strida) with me. A week or so prior they did let me in with this same bike as long as I had it checked in into the bag check room. So sharing my experience with this community that B&H has become a horrible place to spend your hard-earned money I think is beneficial to everyone here. After all, going to another retailer when shopping online is only a click away. I am not in any way promoting Sweetwater, far from it, but they had a live person call me on the phone as soon as I placed an order to make sure my camcorder will be compatible with this wireless mike system. After the sale I had a question and I called them back and the rep was very kind to walk me through the process. This is what customer service should be like. I say, boycott B&H until they change their way of treating their customers. best --- In videoblogging@yahoogroups.com, "Richard Amirault" wrote: > > - Original Message - > From: "pageflex2001" > (snip) > > Bought it at sweetwater.com, don't ever shop at b&h by the way! > (snip) > > Shop all you like at B&H Photo > > Richard Amirault > Boston, MA, USA > http://n1jdu.org > http://bostonfandom.org > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7hf9u2ZdlQ >

Julian, Thanks for this question. I also need to begin to generate this type of content for embedding in client blogs and websites etc, and I am reluctant to get a professional rig when I see people doing well with a Flip or otherwise and have been worried about better audio. I think the Kodak Zi8 is leading the way with external mics and ease of use, but I also hear stories of it malfunctioning and not working up to standards of those that believe mics are important for the sound quality of a professional video. I am also very interested in what the experts here are doing and what they are using on a budget. Re: [videoblogging] Best Video Sitemap Tool
If you have Dreamweaver, there's an HTML sitemap generator, which can make a sitemap for both pages and files at: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/index.cfm?event=extensionDetail&loc=en_us&extid=1289018&PID=2874929 There's also a good Google-spec XML sitemap generator for Dreamweaver. And there's a Google XML sitemap generator plugin for Wordpress. I bet there's an HTML sitemap generator plugin too. [videoblogging] Join Me In My New Year's Resolution - 2 Per Month in 2010!
Hello All! I'm writing to share my New Year's resolution to post at least two videos to hoppervideo.net every month of 2010. Like many of you, I was part of the early wave of videobloggers. And also like many of you, my original videoblog has gone to seed of late (Only 2 posts in 2009!). I've been busy making videos, just not for Hopper. This resolution came to me when I was reading some posts on this list about Vloggercon and how fun and exciting the early days were. It made me miss that cozy family feel that videoblogging had way back in 2005/06. So, dear family, I'd invite you to join me in the "2 Videos Per Month in 2010 Project"! (I'd also invite you to come up with a better name for the project!) Dust off your original videoblog and make is sing once more! Rob

Steve, The book is great. Back in 2005 I was getting started with video. You comments for me here and on the FlashMeeting live video conferences were a huge help in my historic building preservation work. Now I can pass out copies of your book to all my colleagues who what to do video over the internet. Thanks for the help, the inspiration and the new book. John Leeke www.HistoricHomeWorks.com

But still, it's difficult to believe an Italian law would actually be so crazy. I wonder if this is just an extreme interpretation. Re: [videoblogging] Proposed Web video restrictions cause outrage in Italy
I think these legislations are aimed at big time broadcasters who are traditionally regulated, and are just aimed at extending that regulation onto the net. What's missing is language to differentiate them from the rest of us. And, since it's a continuous slope, it's difficult to draw lines - especially when it comes to endorsements. j On Sat, Jan 16, 2010 at 11:56 PM, Jay dedman wrote: > > > http://www.thestandard.com/news/2010/01/15/proposed-web-video-restrictions-cause-outrage-italy > > > > > New rules to be introduced by government decree will require people who > > > upload videos onto the Internet to obtain authorization from the > > > Communications Ministry similar to that required by television > broadcasters, > > > drastically reducing freedom to communicate over the Web, opposition > > > lawmakers have warned. > > > The decree is ostensibly an enactment of a European Union (EU) > directive on > > > product placement and is due to go into effect at the end of January > after > > > being subjected to a nonbinding appraisal by parliament > > > It's not surprising that governments have so quickly started taking > the internet seriously because it's so quickly become such a powerful > way to form opinion. Just as insane as our proposed mandatory internet filter here in Australia which I have spoken out about: http://www.eevblog.com/2010/01/10/ot-the-australian-mandatory-internet-filter-folly/ Dave.

Joly is right that if laws are to be passed, better language must be inserted to differentiate kinds of producers. But that also becomes a slippery slope. How do you define "independent" or "commercial". Big vs small. In the US, this is when anti-regulation folks make claim that any government involvement just creates bureaucracy and arbitrary enforcement. Lobbyists then make the rules. Taxes on the internet are just around the corner. The proposed Net Neutrality in the US seems to be a pretty clear rule that protects people's access to the internet from the whims of corporations (since the internet pipes are all corporate owned). But even here there are strong arguments that Net Neutrality is just the FCC's way to start regulating the web. Currently, the web still has the smell of the Wild West, but the land speculators are circling and the bulldozers are revving up. Is it just the natural evolution of all human endeavors?
