Steven Starr will remain CEO but his co-founders Ian Clarke and Oliver
Luckett are leaving, along with several support staff, though a few are
staying on in consulting roles.

**Three executives have joined the senior staff. Kevin Wells joins as chief
operating officer; he was most recently a consultant to commercial aviation
tech start-up Naverus and in 1996 helped launch an e-commerce play for
Disney Online. David Armitage, who has held stints at Dentsu, Y&R and
TBWA/Chiat/Day and was most recently ad director at Edmunds.com, is joining
as senior VP-advertising sales, and Angela Gyetvan, a former corporate
marketing executive with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, has come in as

Andrew and Amada, I admire your work both when you were working together,
and now independently of one another. I am embarrassed for the two of you
with your public display. The court of public opinion is not the one to
discuss this. It may not seem like poor judgement today to either of you,
but you may be thinking much differently a year or two from now.

Please, please, please take it off line. You are now at the stage of
"virtual shouting". I am waiting for objects to start to fly. It will just
get uglier. I hope you and your respective legal counsel will be able to
settle this swiftly.

Lucas won $100,000, a Sony HD Handycam, as well as $15,000 for the charity

having an intermediary (e.g. google) dilutes their shareholder value, so I
think it is in their best interest to look into other ways to get their
stuff out there. OTOH, if they do it, maybe they should think about
returning the public airwaves they've been using back to the public. (Right.
Like that's going to happen.)

Please try Sedo then.

You've been active in the group for just a few days, and you've had your

defense, unless you show otherwise, I see you are here to sell domain names
and this groups was not made for that.

If you search the group posts for the year+ I've been here, you'll see I
embrace commerce, profit, and capitalism. You'll also see you it very rare
that I call someone out. Please temper your sales effort with a genuine
concern for the conversations going on.

Many vloggers have been going at it over a year,
some, 2 years or more!

The one element you've missed is probably the
most important, time. You cannot force a seed to become a tree. Be
patient with the process, and your project will develop over time.On 3/31/06, lishisman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]

If you do have a PC with a webcam or streaming camcorder & are
interested, email me & I'll set you up with a free month account so
you can send video emails (not attachemnts), do live video chat
thats fluid & do live broadcasting.
In the Summer will be turning into a video social network with video
blogs & live broadcasting from your own channel. At that time we
will also unvail EVE our autosensing & streaming patented
technology, so we will reach all video enabled devices including
video Ipods then & video cell phone shortly after. Early next year
you'll see the first TV Set Top Box (we have the patent on that too)
Video emails, live video chat & live broadcasts in front of your TV
(no computer). The camera is also detachable so you can webcast from
your back yard if you like.

This is a MLM (which has a bad conotation normally) but in this case
they have the technology, the patents & the people to take this to
the world. This is going to explode this year so get ready and take
advantage now.

the price for an ad is $15/thousand viewers or CPM in ad industry

not been met.
Let's say the winning bidder get sthe ad space at $50 CPM, or
$50,000 to advertise for an entire week and get one million unique
viewers.RB can then take that and say use that $50 CPM as their
baseline.  If someone wants to put up an ad for a single day it's
$10k.  A Week?  $50k!  A Month -- $175K (give em a break
for buying in bulk).  Done and done.

Re: [videoblogging] quoting, tagging and smallest narrative elements

Are you proposing something like a virtual remix, where you could dig
into the "hive mind" and come up with tagged video segments for

for building non-linear films and he talks about the idea of SNEs
(smallest narrative elements), now these can be stills, sections of
film, audio, basically the minimum amount of something that contributes
to the narrative. so how does this relate to vlogging? well.. is there a way to
tag sections of a video, mefeedia had a quoting system (has that
disappeared Peter?), how would you add tags to this? or maybe there is
a better way.. i don;t know.. but i like the idea of being able to
subscribe to a series of tags in del.icio.us
(or equivalent), say 'rain' and 'beauty', and then getting to watch a
generative film about beauty and rain. the reason i think tagging
sections is great is that the  film that gets compiled is
continous, a fireant edit so to speak, without the credits inbetween
each clip, and without the associated narrative of the film the section
came from. does this make sense? i guess i'm asking for both technical
and theoretical input or ideas here.. there's definitely more to this
idea than i can think of !

[videoblogging] WSJ: Tiered Internet = added fees for video?

2006-01-05 Thread Digital Buddha

Tomorrow's Wall Street
Journal is reporting that phone companies (BellSouth and AT&T among
others) are seeking to charge Google, Vonage, Movielink and others for
"priority" broadband delivery.

"The size and structure of the fee systems remain to be worked out, and
the regulatory implications aren't clear. But already, the phone
companies are meeting heavy resistance from companies that say making
them pay for priority delivery of their content amounts to holding them
ransom, thus hurting competition and, ultimately, the consumer.", the WSJ reports.

The article quotes Commissioner Michael Copps of the
FCC as saying that "We need a watchful eye to ensure that network providers do not become
Internet gatekeepers, with the ability to dictate who can use the
Internet and for what purposes."

This does not bode well for independent producers of higher bandwidth
content like us Videobloggers if phone and cable companies are able to
do this. Keep your eyes on this as it develops...

make an ipod ready videocast/vlog that will be published once a week. Free to download.
Authors retain the ownership and rights. Here is a bit from the site:

Filmmakers   Do you want your cartoon(s) delivered directly into the hands of millions of
cartoon fans worldwide? Submitting is free and easy, and - if we love your short - your
work will be included in a Channel Frederator episode along with some of the world's
other top animated films. If that's not enough, you'll keep all the rights and retain
complete ownership of your work.

Cartoon Fans   Subscribe to Channel Frederator now. It's free and easy, and each week
you'll get a fresh new 10- to 15-minute episode featuring some of the hippest animation
on Earth.

About Frederator Studios   We're the folks who originally gave you tons of cartoons
including The Fairly OddParents, ChalkZone, My Life as a Teenage Robot, Johnny Bravo,
Dexter's Laboratory, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Cow and Chicken, The PowerPuff Girls,
and many, many more. And now we're giving you even more shorts that we're hoping are
just as cool and just as funny.

Why all this?   We really love cartoons and the people who make them. Because of our day
job, we see lots of excellent stuff that never gets seen by most people. Channel Frederator
gives all cartoons a shot at being shown to the wired world's masses. And if we can spread
the love - or at least spread something - then we will.

Who picks what gets aired?   We do. Then you vote on each short. Then we try to pick
better next time.

BitTorrent in VERY non-technical terms.

If you're a geek you can skip the video, you already know everything

Grandma,

Imagine you have a friend that knows *everything* about your favorite

coming out soon that you would be very interested in on Winter gardens.
As soon as it comes out she will send it to you, so you can watch it at

hmm...or maybe a dvd that is included with every retailer or

Damn, I'm so sorry to hear that.

You should think about making this into an ebook. Traditional books are great (I'm in the
publishing business, so I like books, paper, print) but an ebook might be a better fit for
this project. They can be edited easily, so they can be updated as the technology changes
and it changes pretty fast. This would also mean there would still be a source of income
which you all deserve. If you've got three quarters of the book written already it would not
be that hard to convert it to an ebook. Check out what the TidBits people are doing with
ebooks. I'm not sure, but I think an ebook could have hyperlinks and screencasts too.
