I'm going, and so is Senor Aaron Valdez.

Huh. No, I'm just using the regular free account. Maybe there's no ad right now because there's no content to pull context from? We'll see what happens when we really start streaming. Maybe just a lovely fluke. --- In videoblogging@yahoogroups.com, Brook Hinton bhin...@... wrote: That's excellent, thanks! We'll be using Mogulus to stream their projects, and if you haven't used it, it's a fun and interactive way to view work online. You can participate in a chat with students and other audience members while watching the show. Students will also appear on camera to introduce their videos, which will include a lot of kinetic typography and motion graphics work, as well as other forms. Just go to: http://www.mogulus.com/cinematicmultimedia We'll get started a few minutes after 4pm. Anyone can watch and participate - you don't need to be registered to join. I anticipate some pretty interesting and inventive projects to be shown! Hope to see you there! [videoblogging] Student videoblogging work
Hi all, I'm too excited about my students' current work not to share. They're exploring new media and the notion of interactivity in video and alternative ways of producing cinema, and some of them have done some truly excellent work. If you have a moment to check any of these out - and leave comments - they would love to hear from you. The most recent project is a splitscreen/multi-channel video, and some of them are absolutely fantastic. In particular, check out http://www.evanrattenbury.blogspot.com/ which uses home movie footage transferred through my other (now defunct) videoblog project, lostinlight.org. It's a very creative use of home movies! Here are the others! Thanks everyone! http://www.aamillergrapho.blogspot.com/ http://carlsjos.blogspot.com/ http://bacinema.blogspot.com/ http://fadingclarity.blogspot.com/ http://sdiviney.blogspot.com/ http://www.frenchsforum.blogspot.com/ http://strangelittleorange.blogspot.com/ http://brightlightprod.blogspot.com/ http://www.kazmancomputerdesign.blogspot.com/ http://sniebauer.blogspot.com/ http://braziliannutoil.blogspot.com/ http://samanthareetz.blogspot.com/ http://moviesofmymind.blogspot.com/ http://blasphemysidekick.blogspot.com/ http://www.whamblamblog.blogspot.com/ http://batshits.blogspot.com/ http://shotgunfestival.blogspot.com/

I can promise you that Valdez has no free time. His art is his work is his life. I'm just a mistress :) --- In videoblogging@yahoogroups.com, Rupert [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Thank God for Valdez's free time: http://wreckandsalvage.com/pure-salvage/good-morning/ On 29-Oct-08, at 12:15 PM, valdezatron wrote: I found all of his work be pretty refreshing. He's taking the approach that can be found in all disciplines of understanding the materials and exploring the essence of the medium. Obviously much of the work plays on the use embed feature. He takes something created for the purpose of sharing/distribution and manipulates it into something unintended, unexpected. I also like the play on perceived motion. I've seen this done on Super 8 film by Canadian filmmaker John Porter in the early 80's. As seen on this list, someone can tell you how this is done technically. It isn't exactly revolutionary yet it requires an artist to explore its possibilities. One other thing, I've never understood the too much free time statement. It's such an ugly, judgmental thing to say. It makes no sense. Most people are driven to make art or videoblogs or play golf or whatever because they're driven by it not because they don't have anything to do. I've gotten this statement a few times in the past so this isn't directed directly to you David. Also it's something I only hear applied to art. I'm trying to imagine walking up to somebody playing with their kid in the park and saying You've got too much free time on your hands. Other artists I like in this area: Oliver Laric http://oliverlaric.com/ Spirit Surfers http://spiritsurfers.net And Jay Dedman pointed to this brilliant morsel this morninghttp:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVm_HJ_ax8oeurl Aaron Valdez Wre [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
