Re: [videoblogging] Editing HD content on a PC

If you don't mind using a free program, VirtualDub is very good
and handles all resolutions. But you can't do a few of the fancier
things like fades and transitions.

Re: [videoblogging] 20/20 on net video

2006-12-30 Thread Zack
I suspect they're pushing the "suffer the children" line
because that's the method of attack being pushed by
the MPAA/RIAA lobbyists in their effort to cripple
the Internet. There's a bill sponsored by John
"selling my soul" McCain that pretends to be about
protecting children but may be intended to shut down
the Internet.

The other tactic lobbyists are trying to push is requiring
every document of the Net to be authorized for distribution
by its copyright holder, which is of course impossible
to thoroughly enforce, but the penalties are huge, so it
could cause a panic similar to how terrorism does --
not that MPAA/RIAA are terrorist organizations, of course...

Trying to shut people up about 9/11conspiracies
using the "suffer the children" tactic is new to me;
it kind of suggests there's some truth to the theories.

[videoblogging] University lectures online

2006-12-29 Thread Zack
Hi folks,

Here is a list of university webpages that
offer free videos of their lectures online. Most of
them are streaming, and I haven't noticed
anything yet regarding videography but
these could be useful anyway.

Hi Bill,
I just do individual videos right now. I need to get
new hardware before I do a blog.

[videoblogging] Funny idea: blogger press corps?

2006-12-28 Thread Zack
Hi all,

It occurs to me that if regular people with video cameras
were able to meet up together and collectively interview
people, for instance famous people, the result could be
interesting, for several reasons:

(A) A group could probably ask more interesting questions
of interviewees than an individual interviewer could.

(B) If it's not staged in some way, regular people always
have more off the wall questions than MSM people do.

(C) The larger the group of interviewers, perhaps the
more willing some important people would be to be
interviewed, especially "man of the people" types.

However there is also big risk: You know how everyone
hates the White House Press Corps, because all they do
is pose easy, softball questions to Bush and pals. Everyone senses
it's staged. The risk would be that bloggers would do the same,
or that the mainstream media would imitate them and stage
fake populist interviews. Or the MSM could try to discredit
the idea by staging especially unruly or disrespect-filled
interviews.

Nero was supposed to allow this, but when I tried it
they said I had to upgrade to a payware version.

[videoblogging] Time's "You" person of the year

2006-12-23 Thread Zack
In the latest Amanda Congdon video, she proposes
that the "You" from Time's latest issue is not everyone,
because for instance some people have never even
heard of a blog, but rather is the much more limited
set of people who had produced content and
put it on the Web.

I wonder if what Time really means is that it has sized up
the enemy to its business model, and has decided it's
basically everyone out there who's not in the media.
Because there's no way they can identify every individual
who might produce content and give it away.
So we're all the MSM's enemy, sort of like media
insurgents in the war on truth ;-)'

This is confusing to me. Didn't she formerly complain about
the mainstream media (MSM)? Yet now she's a part of it?
