[videoblogging] SXSW Adobe party (blip.tv question)

2008-02-22 Thread dinarebecca
Hi you guys,

We're (informally) partnering with Adobe on a party Monday, March 10th
(8-11pm) to preview the Adobe Media Player at SXSW. If you're a
content creator and want to join please let us know...just send a note
to [EMAIL PROTECTED] (that actually goes directly to me but is a little
easier to monitor in terms of keeping all the names together) by
February 29th.

Thanks and cheers to a fun SXSW!

Dina

OK you guys - we're back up now. Sorry about that - we'll definitely
be taking steps to make sure that doesn't happen again. Thanks for
your patience and kindness in the meanwhile - much appreciated for sure.

Hey Amani,

I love the new look of the site. It feels distinctive and strongly
branded and yet is easy to navigate and really pleasant to read and
watch videos on.

The swamp video is a bit ghetto fabulous, too :) - really enjoyed it.

Hi you guys!

Wanted to solicit some help for our five-word (or less) acceptance
speech at the Webbies.

Justin has the best one I've heard so far: "Please. Keep. Uploading."

Does anyone have any other thoughts/ideas/suggestions?

(Also, the tickets are insane this year, so if anyone - by any chance
- has an extra ticket we would LOVE to buy that from you and will be
forever and ever and ever grateful!)

Thanks so much,

Amani, I feel lucky to have met you at the media conference in Memphis
last month.

The world needs more amazing citizen journalists like yourself, and
congrats on a great blog and a fantastic vlog. I think it's so cool,
and kind of amazing, that people are leaving reporting jobs in
traditional media to pursue dreams in the new media.

I hope you find many (more) friends on this list and join great
videoblogging events to come (even if they're at the Swedish American

2007-01-21 Thread dinarebecca
Thanks, Rhett.

Actually, the main thing I am looking to upgrade is having the footage
look lighter/brighter. That is my main complaint with the $200
Panasonic camcorder I have now

[videoblogging] Re: camcorder recommendations

2007-01-21 Thread dinarebecca
Thanks for your help, Gina!

I will take the camera around a lot, but I am looking for something
that would be good for shooting a show inside as well. I definitely
need the ability to plug in a mic, since I am constantly getting
complaints from people that the audio on interviews (and even inside)
is terrible.

Thanks for any advice!

Dina

2007-01-20 Thread dinarebecca
I am finally taking the plunge and buying a new camera. Does anyone
have recommendations? I followed the HD conversation but probably
don't want to spend that much now...open to anything else. My $200
Panasonic camcorder makes everything look pretty dark, so I do look
forward to upgrading. Thanks for any advice! Dina

I'd love to meet you - very cool that you are working with youth

[videoblogging] Re: camera recommendations?

2005-10-30 Thread dinarebecca
Thanks Gena! Yes the camcorders will be used in a variety of
situatons - but mainly shooting events (conferences, political
stuff, etc.) Power supply - not sure - people will be traveling the
country recording things so I guess you want as much flexibility as
possible. Output will probably be on blip. And it's just for vlog-
ing.

What do you think of the JVC GZ-MG30? Is it a big disadvantage not
to have firewire? I'm thinking yes...

Thanks..tempted to go with a mid-level ($750) Sony perhaps...

[videoblogging] camera recommendations?

2005-10-30 Thread dinarebecca
Hi there - I wonder if anyone has camera adviceI know someone who
wants to buy a bunch of cameras for high-quality videoblogging. He
was thinking of purchasing JVC GZ-MG30s...until a friend of mine
suggested the Sony HDRHDV. Does anyone have any thoughts on either of
these cameras - or a suggestion of their own? Price isn't as much of
an issue as the quality of the footage and the ease with which it will
be to hook the cameras up to all sorts of computers at different
locations, etc.

Thanks so so much for any advice -
