I am having problems with my new wordpress blog for some reason
my feed
it coming back as invalid when I tried to create the feed using
feedburner I got this error message

The URL you entered does not appear to be a valid feed. We encountered
the following problem: Error on line 2: The processing instruction

Does anyone have any idea on what could be causing that? Any help

[videoblogging] RSS Feed Distributing Wrong Video

2008-01-16 Thread Tim D
Hi Everyone,

I know this has been addressed in the past, but I can't seem to find
it in a list search. I just realized that my RSS feed picked up a
video I linked to on Jan McLaughlin's fauxpress.blogspot.com in a
recent post instead of the video that I actually made. When I open up
my RSS reader the video that plays in my feed is Jan's and not mine.
Here is the link to the post to which I am referring:
http://realitysandwich.wordpress.com/2008/01/13/bold-statements-all-around/

I can't figure out why this might be happening. I have not linked
directly to Jan's video url in my post, but to Jan's archived post url
instead, so I know that isn't the problem. Any ideas why my feed is
not picking up my video? All I can think of is that there is
something wrong with the way I embedded the vid on my site using
blip.tv. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Tim

2007-04-17 Thread T . Whid
Hi,

Two ways that I know of.

You need to subscribe the podcast then...

1) select the little 'i' icon on the podcast once it's subbed and it's
listed under the title and above the description. You can't copy and paste
it tho!
2) drag the podcast out of iTunes and onto your desktop. This will create a
.pcast file on the desktop, which is just xml. Open that file in a text
editor (TextEdit works) and it's there as the 'href' attribute of the 'link'
tag. And you can copy and paste :-) (I've only tested that on OS X, don't
know if it works on Windows.)

In windows I right-click on the podcast, and choose 'show description'

We only have the options offered to us by Yahoo Groups. Feel free to setup
an e-mail to RSS gateway yourself (a quick google search gave me
mail2rss.org as one option).

If you use a standard signature delimiter (dash-dash-space-line break see
mine below) many e-mail clients will automatically strip your long

threads. You should also consider cutting your signature down to 4 lines

[videoblogging] RSS Feed

Still trying to get a handle on this RSS
feed. I was attempting to add my Video Blog, http://funnytheblog.blogspot.com/, which has an RSS
feed, http://feeds.feedburner.com/FunnyTheVlog, to MeFeedia, but it
says that it's doesn't contain links to the URLs of the movies. I'm not
quite sure how you do that. When I to go Feedburner to create an RSS feed,
it says there appears to be no "style" associated with the link and I don't know
what that means either. Can anybody enlighten me?
Thanks!

that doesn't work either)

You are using an Atom feed. You might try to change it to an RSS 2.0
feed with enclosures. I think you can change this in your Feedburner

Does this list have an FAQ? Because this question obviously belongs in
it. ;)

Should it go in the Voxmedia wiki?

If we do have an FAQ, I'd be in favor of having a reminder post sent

which will hopefully drill it into our heads that newbie questions can
be easily answered.

Re: [videoblogging] [RSS] Feed is too long?!

2005-08-01 Thread Joshua Kinberg

RSS is not an archive format. It is used to provide recent updates to your site.
This often means that it contains something like the most recent 15-30
entries on your weblog.

As for the description elements, yes you can include the full text
of your entries there.

Wow, dude. That feed is fucking huge. I think you've missed the entire
point of RSS. Have you used an RSS Aggregator? Check out Bloglines
(http://bloglines.com/). Also, check out other people's RSS feeds for
examples (there's generally a link on the main page of the blog). RSS
is a mechanism of distributing information about new updates to a site
(with the number of posts arbitrarily picked by the publisher, but the
idea being it should be up to the number of posts a person wouldn't have
seen if they hadn't checked your site in a day or two). You've got
stuff going back to 2002. I limit mine to the last 20 posts, including
full text of the postings in the content:encoded tag.
