[videoblogging] Re: Alternaitve media is a sham!
1. You are the alternative media. You have the power to create and distribute your work. I believe in the free flow of information and free speech but there is also responsibility that comes with it. 2. You have choices about the method of distribution. Many of use have made use of the free web hosting companies. You have the choice of using them or not. They have the equal choice of permitting a post or not, just as I can decide if I want you in my home or not. 3. It may be time to research fee based web hosting, especially if you are going down this particular road. However, read the terms carefully. You may or may not be kick off if they have a policy about the kind of material that can be posted. 4. There are parts of the world that are in agony over these cartoons, it is their belief system they feel has been violated. You and I as Americans have no concept of the fecal matter hitting the fan overseas. It is dangerous. Condemning an entire religion or race for the acts of specific people is also dangerous. In this instance, be very sure of the words you choose to use. 5. If you choose to pursue this path you have to know that you will attract attention from nut jobs, fanatics of all stripes and your friendly NSA, FBI, CIA and all kinds of alphabet soup from local, state and federal government. Some of that attention will be directed to your ISP and web host. They have the choice of how much contact they want to have with said alphabet. They have the choice of deciding they want to reduce exposure. Search your heart. Make your choices. Do what you have to do. Peace Be Still, Gena http//outonthestoop.blogspot.com Yahoo! My assumption is that it's a video of a beheading. You probably dont want to view it. The ends, in my opinion, do not justify the means. All I see it doing is two things. Promoting hatred against another culture and causing further uproar. Two things that are NOT needed at this time. Why he chose to want show it is beyond me and I certainly question his intentions. Either he wanted show something he thought was important or just further his own desire for hits to his site/videos. Regardless...I am not impressed. Randolfe (Randy). Get a clue. You are not helping matters. This is not making a statement. This in only inciting further unrest. You are no better than rotten.com in posting this garbage. Ya. That's my opinion and I am sticking to it. David http://www.taoofdavid.com --- In videoblogging@yahoogroups.com, Ronen [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: The Youtube video is down. I probably shouldn't post this...While I also have mixed feeling about the posting of a death, a lot of people seem to think that it is wrong to discuss things other people are doing wrong because it is 'incitement'. Either I am radically misunderstanding everyone, or the logical conclusion of that thought process is not only to avoid 'fighting,' debate, and discussion with other cultures, but to not interact with them at all. Which I do not understand. On 2/5/06, David Howell [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: My assumption is that it's a video of a beheading. You probably dont want to view it. Which I do not understand.Me neither. Well said.As for beheading videos, anybody who has the desire to see someone get their head cut off can easily do so. Videos of beheadings are like Simpsons episodes on P2P nets. They're literally everywhere. The big stink about this is not about freedom of speech or political or social repression, but more about self-promotion and glory.
