Re: [videoblogging] Re: File size with Sanyo HD1
Thanks for that link Josh! I compressed one of the test clips with h.264 and uploaded it here: http://michaelverdi.com/demo/hd1_test.movIt's nice but basically looks and sounds just like my Xacti C5 - just bigger. I would love to see a test clip of someone talking to the camera both with and without an external mic. I'd love to hear the difference and I'd like to see if the audio sync problem (my audio is always 5 frames ahead of the video) is fixed. -Verdi SPONSORED LINKS Individual Fireant Use YAHOO! [videoblogging] Re: File size with Sanyo HD1
Thanks for that! I was all set to sell off my miniDV for an Xacti C6 but now find myself hung up on the HD (although more for the zoom than anything else). Also, I'm a little lazy and don't want to have to deal with the 5-frame sound issue described by M Verdi...I wonder if that problem is resolved in the HD. I've looked at this after downloading it and it is very disappointing looking to my eye. I'm playing on 1920x1200 full screen interpolation. Looks Very Good. But not as excellent as I was hoping for. Perhaps the subject matter could be better done with a human being talking head 3 feet away. Me likey the Xacti HD1. Just got it 4 days ago. Its very versatile. I bought a few 4GB SD cards and they work fine. Its not real great in low light, my biggest beef. I have not compressed or rendered anything yet. Just did a show at a local coffee house and will edit over the next few days. I'll link you when its up. All in all I have to recommend it tho. Its alot of bang for the buck. [videoblogging] Re: File size with Sanyo HD1
Okay i did a test. On HD (not Super HD) but just regular 16:9 HD 1 min of video is 44 megs. Sorenson or h.264 should crunch that pretty good. Just for the record, I consistantly watch shows like diggnation, bleeding edge and TWiT Video and they are always a few hundred megs or more. I bounce between Democracy Player (Im on a PC) and Fireant. I just downloaded IM (thanks Steve Garfield for the tip.) but have not adapted to it yet. Democ is my fave interface but still pretty buggy for the PC. Open source tho, so I cant be particular. Enjoy! Cellie --- In videoblogging@yahoogroups.com, Steve Garfield [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I think you'd want to compress it before uploading. For web and aggregator viewing, a local video producer compresses with H.264. That's his suggestion. It looks really really great. If you are interested in putting a true HD file up on a host for download to a device that will allow you to watch true HD, then you might want to host those files on a Bit Torrent type of site. Just a couple of ideas... You can also export as .mov using an .mp4 codec and make is more universal. [videoblogging] Re: File size with Sanyo HD1
Off the top of my head the bitrate is 9Mbit, which is roughly 15 times higher than the average videoblogs bitrate. So approximately speaking, 1 minute of HD Sanyo footage will be the same file size as 15 minutes of the average 320x240 videoblog. Your best bet is almost certainly to downsize the footage from that camera before putting it on the web. 1280x720 is quite a high resolution, there will be plenty of viewers who will want something smaller for various reasons.
