Too bad! :)

I guess I think of this as more of a "discussion group" than a

Actually, I'm glad you posted another announcement about this fund

Further, if you are directing your parenthetical remark re "pressing

It was directed at everyone.  I'm glad to hear you are doing what you
can to help out.

Lastly, if Lessig says he is worried about the future of CC if the NFP
status is cancelled, I'm willing to give his word the benefit of the

Me too, but I'm not so willing to prioritize over the others that I
mentioned.
As you pointed out, the resources are scarce.

obviously lot's of folks clearly do (a)

i disagree with (b)
C, CC and PD are not the only alternatives

also, AFAIK, no one has yet to test if a CC license holds up in court

Not much point in us creating content if it cannot be shared because
its against the law.

Only a handful 'bad uses' that flood my head would prevent me from
releasing all rights whatsoever. So ... without CC I either cant vlog
or have ti ask everyone to break the law and trust me I wont sue you
later. :-P

first, i *don't* think it is "UNCOOL" that a non-profit corporation has
to establish itself as publicly supported in a reasonable amount of time
in order to keep it's NP status (note this is about status, not
continued existence; although Lessig claims it is essential).

second, i think the question arises as to if and how we should pull
together and help out one single organization with so much money?
maybe we should be asking some hard questions here.
who is most worthy of our limited support?
who can we best help those who need it.

CC wants $125K more (Lessig says less than $100K, but i am going by the
CC page) to reach their $250K goal
If I recall, ourmedia needs $5K to move it's servers
EchoChamber needs developer $ for enhancements to drupal/ourmedia that
allow for collaborative tagging and editing
someone needs to organize vloggercon and that takes people's time and $
individual vloggers are asking for support too (how many paypal buttons
have you pressed this year?)
these are examples, please pardon me if I left out your favorite

Another hard question: what are folks who ask for support intending to
do with it and what are there other project plans?
Frankly, I appreciate much of what CC is doing
however, i do not feel that they are offering much bang for our buck
when compared to others

Finally, let's not confuse CC licenses with the works they license.
CC is not responsible for all the great "CC" content that is out there
we are

i do appreciate their services, but I question their needs over others

This is *extremely* important, everyone -- I hope we can show our support, in any way we can afford.  Fact is, we can't afford to live in the copyrighted world without CC licensing.Podcaster Herald

Hey all (apologies in advance for the crosspost)

A lot of us release works under Creative Commons licenses, which is a
cool thing.

Alert: An UNCOOL sword is dangling a bit close however, the IRS demands
proof of public support for CC.

Bottom line, CC has a very short window to prove "public support" to
the IRS, Lessig (and all of us who release under CC) request support,
please click a few bucks over to CC NOW.

If you read nothing else today, read Lessig's message, then make a
contribution:

***And if you are a business (i.e., aggregator, video hosting, etc.)
benefiting from those who release under CC licenses, please forward
this message to your CEO and make him/her aware, the deadline is 10
