[Videolib] SPAM crap mail

2011-01-11 Thread Debra Jo Sujka
I thought this list was vetted before stuff went out. What is going on? I am
receiving all kinds of crap mail.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.

I am not sure if you are aware of this, but you have just sent your user id and
password to the whole list. You may want to change your password. There were
a few emails this morning that looked like spam and that is why I did not reply
to them.

I am not sure if this specific title can be preserved because "Eve" has
withdrawn her permission, but if possible, you might want to consider
the below title:

Case study of multiple personality
IMPRINT University Park, Pa. : Pennsylvania State University,
Psychological Cinema Register, 1957.
DESCRIPT. 1 reel : sd., col. 16 mm
NOTES Records an unusual case of multiple personality and gives
background information about the case. Follows actual interview scenes
in which the psychiatrist elicits each of the three distinct and
contrasting personalities, Eve White, Eve Black and Jane. Concludes with
a section showing the patient after recovery in which the psychiatrist
discusses possible etiological and therapeutic factors in the case.
NOTES This film features the woman documented in The three faces of Eve
by Corbett H. Thigpen and Hervey M. Cleckley.

I am expressing my opinion only and do not in any way shape or form
represent Ryerson University in this matter.

You were asking about companies whose products might be considered for
the project. I am simply recommending 1 specific title as opposed to a
company.

Re: [Videolib] Marc Records as QR Codes?

2010-09-07 Thread Debra Jo Sujka
Ryersn University Library uses QR codes.

If you look up "Night and fog", then look to the right side below the 4
buttons, you can see our QR code. If you look at the 5 buttons at the top,
above "Search History" the middle button says "Marc Display." Click on that
and see whatever you want to see.

http://www.ryerson.ca/library/

Pretend you stumbled across our database by accident. The last time I really
spoke up on this list, I got in deep doo-doo. I am just a lowly staff worker
(not a librarian), so please don't ask me anything technical. If you poke
around our web site, you may be able to find out who can answer more of your
questions about our use of QR codes.

I do not know if Sound Ideas (a Canadian company) has SE online, but you could
contact them and inquire.Up until the beginning of this century, I
purchased AV materials and my contact there was Marty, I think. I am not sure
if he is still there but he was very good about answering my questions
regarding their materials, copyright, and and use in student productions.
