[Videolib] Subject: Help finding LGBT feature films for a Christian college

2016-01-16 Thread John C. DeSantis
Liz,
Since you asked for feature film suggestions (and Milk was a good choice),
here are a few other titles to look at:
   Our Sons
The Lost Language of Cranes
  Prayers for Bobby
(all TV movies but should be on DVD)
Save Me
Latter Days
Edge of Seventeen
Beautiful Thing

I could likely come up with more titles, but these are films I have seen which
seem appropriate for your needs. Good luck!

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.

[Videolib] How to promote doc. video

2013-10-30 Thread John C. DeSantis

A faculty member who has made a documentary video is interested in promoting
this DVD to libraries by sending out an advertisement postcard.
Do any of you have any ideas on how he might obtain a mailing list of
Acquisitions departments and media centers for academic and public libraries?

Many thanks in advance,

John

Would you mind sharing five-to-ten titles that are currently in your

Feel free to respond to me directly, or post to the listserv.

Thanks in advance. :)

Hi, Monique-- Here is another one:

Radically Simple (Bullfrog Films, 2005)

In Radically simple, we join engineer and author Jim Merkel as he
presents his views on sustainable living in public presentations
and workshops at his home. These meetings, which revolve around
discussion on global economics and resource consumption, show
Merkel leading by example. He demonstrates that a radically simple
lifestyle-while at times intimidating-is not only possible but
extremely satisfying.
