It should (under other names, I think - Klondike? Or is that another for
the original solitaire...) be on any "set" of solitaire games. It's
definately not a Windows exclusive.

(Trivia bit - it was originally included as a "test" program with Win32s,
an addon for Windows 3.1 to let it run "sort of" 32-bit programs if
Freecell ran, it was installed properly.

Do a search on VersionTracker for "freecell" or "card game" and check out

Ha! It's got you in its spell! ;-)

See if the online version at www.freecell.com works
for you on Mac.

Free Cell made its first appearance in Windows as
the "pack in" game with the Win32s add-on for Windows 3.1x.

I have one of their large surge protectors. My wife got it at Big Lots for
like $10 and it will take about 2100 joules and has a ton of wide and narrow
space outlets. I guess my surge insurance that came with it is no good now.

Interex was the parent company for XLR8. They closed up shop about two
years ago, due to poor fiscal management. IIRC, all their assets were
sold to Tripp Lite, but only XLR8 was kept intact as a subsidiary.
According to XLR8's website, they're located in Norcross, GA. How close
is that to you, Amber...?
If you have any Interex products that may still be under warranty, it
may be a good idea to check with Tripp Lite.

Hello All,
As long as we're DOSsing this subject around, There is a card game
that comes with Windoze '95 called, Free Cell. Does anyone know if
there's a Mac version of this particular game?... It seems a terrible
waste of time and hard drive space to have to run VirtualPC just for
one game.

FAQ updated

2001-10-12 Thread the pickle

Thanks to an alert reader, Radio Shack is now known to sell Mac Plus PRAM
batteries for US$7 (catalog order, any applicable shipping is extra), not
the $20 that some people have apparently been quoted/charged. I've updated
the relevant portion and, unless someone is aware of cheaper sources, think
this is probably as good as it gets here in the States.

Admittedly off topic, sure, but maybe wandering over to LEPC../

IMHO, PC-DOS 7 / 2000 and OpenDOS (formerly Novell Dos, formerly DR-DOS)
tie for being the best DOS.
PC DOS lets you dynamically load (and unload) device drivers, even high,
REXX is included (very powerful scripting language) - it's a good package.
OpenDOS is free, and can (on a 386 or higher) multitask. Also comes with
Netwars and a version of Personal Netware.

What a combo...

-Eric

I know this is getting way OT, but wasn't Digital Research's DR-DOS the best
DOS of it's type. IIRC it was the first with memory optimisation, protected
mode and the only DOS to reallyy exploit the extra features of the 286
processor. I also once read that bugs in said 286 processor prevented DR-DOS
from running properly and hurt it chances...
