Radius Video vision

2002-03-21 Thread Patrick Austin

I found a Radius Video vision "Video Card" at work.

Is the 15 pin VGA connector for a monitor or extra hardware? It's Male and
not the usuall female VGA connector.

StuffIt Vewer DA 1.5.1 (from 1988)

2002-03-21 Thread rlf9

I've got this StuffIt Viewer DA here which seems to provide minimal tech
data on files stuffed with StuffIt 1.5.1. Does it do anything else?

Thnx,

Re: adding FPU

2002-03-21 Thread Scott Holder

An FPU probably wouldn't do much for average Finder window playing. It
would mainly be good if you use multimedia apps like Photoshop and the like.

I"ve heard conflicting reports about whether it does any good for JPEG
decompression, YMMV.

I certainly wouldn't spend the $60 or whatever on it, but if you find a
cheap source you almost might as well. It won't hurt anything.

As for Macs shipping with them... can't tell you off hand. Several of the
Mac II variants did, as well as a couple of the Powerbooks (and some of the
Duos)

adding FPU

2002-03-21 Thread James E Freeland

Hi everyone,

What would an FPU add as far as performance is concerned?
will this speed up the OS any?

Still trying to determine if it is worth it.

Also, how many Macs with 68030 processor shipped with the FPU?

Re: 12" Monitor

2002-03-21 Thread Terry Graham

Hi.

Can anyone tell me the secret to getting the cover
off a 1990 Macintosh 12" RGB Display?

Its got two screws only on the bottom side;
releases to a degree but what would be the top
side front won't let go. I didn't want to scar it
up any more with the screwdriver twist
which wound up my last resort.

I just want to blow it out as I know by the
smell that it's heavily dust laden inside.

Thanks,
TT

Yeah, but soldering around batteries - the early Mac IIs used solder-lead
instead of press-fit - can be risky business. Ideal solution: solder in
two battery holders the first time you have to replace the batteries.

The contact is probably weaker if you use croc. clips. It's better to
solder it (making sure it's not a dry joint of course) really to ensure
it stays in contact. It's not like it's hard to un-solder.
